HEARTS will complete the signing of Spanish right-winger Jesus Manuel Santana Abreu within the next 24 hours.
Better known as Suso, he's undergone a medical and will become the club's first new addition of the summer.

The 24 year-old was top scorer last season with nine goals for UD Fuerteventura, a team based in the Canary Islands who play in the thir
d tier of Spanish football.

He came to Csaba Laszlo's attention last year after the Tynecastle manager watched him in action for his former club CD Tenerife.

The arrival of Suso will increase Laszlo's options on the right hand side of midfield – with Laryea Kingston, David Obua and Ruben Palazuelos also able to play there – although he can also play anywhere across midfield as well as in attack.

Meanwhile, Laszlo insists he is in no hurry to name a new captain ahead of the forthcoming season. Robbie Neilson inherited the armband from Christophe Berra but his decision to quit for Leicester means Laszlo is again seeking a skipper. "There will be somebody new who wears the armband next season, that is certain," Laszlo said.

"I have a couple of candidates in mind but there is no hurry to name a captain just now."

And here's me thinking the only good thing to come out of the Canary Island was tomato juice.
Jesus Manuel Santana Abreu, no wonder they shortened it to Bozo sorry Suso. Top scorer for a team in the Canary Islands, no expense spared from Vlad. If you don't get some decent players in soon, signing Jesus might be a good idea. LOL

#1 In defense of my teams supporters, there would be exactly the same reaction had Hibs signed someone from the Spanish third tier.

Although the guy doesnt seem like the kind of signing to get fans excited, Lazslo's obviously a decent coach and players like Sproule have come in from nowhere and done well so you never know.

I think the thing is that no Hibs posters on here, even the silly ones, ever talk about the club having a war chest or whatever then seem to ignore the fact that their club is bringing in lower league players from teams most people have never heard of. Thats why Hearts will take stick from Hibees for this.

Lets face it he will give us more than Kingstin did last year.
Thinking along different lines here, why another midfielder?Unless Driver is set to go and Obua will be on the left or hopefully Kingston is set to go and this lad can offer competition on the right.
Obviously someone is set to leave as we have more than enough midfielders just now.
Please Csaba give us a striker

Don't know anything about the guy apart from the club he currently plays for (and I strongly suspect nobody else here does either) so will reserve any judgement until I see him play.

What I do know though is that there have been many gems found over the years from the lower divisions.

Andy Webster, Mike Galloway to name two off the top of my head this early in the morning.

Yes but we are signing young players with potential and trying to get the best out of them by coaching them under last season's Manager of the Year.

Hibs are teaming up young players with potential with...erm...the same manager that couldn't get the best out of them at his previous club.
19

tommytommy,

30/06/2009 07:58:18
A decent team can very quickly become a very poor team when they lose a couple of good players and replace them with mediocrity.

This signing has the hallmarks of throw away cheapness
and is an indicator of the Romanov policy to keep on draining the club.

Every decent player to come through Hearts team in the Romanov era has either been sold or is being touted around clubs to be sold.

Atthe AGM Ogilvie and Federtovas made no bones about the clubs intention to run down the playing staff and to sell ANY saleable player.

Forget big signings and forget the empty promises of football utopia.

This signing is what is actually taking place.

O by the way I know a Spaniard who played in Spanish Third tier with Huesca who went to Raith Rovers, Dundee and to Rangers. He turned out to be quite useful. You have to remember top tier in Spanish football has a few useful sides. Does anyone know of Barcelona and Real Madrid o and Valencia. If Hearts had signed someone from English first division the equivalent to Spanish third there would be fewer complaints. Spanish players have shown themselves to be hard working not like some of the lazy highly paid "gentlemen" who have donned the Maroon shirt.

You’ve got to love this place. Weeks of “you’ll never sign anyone, Vlad won’t let you. No money, your going bust in 5 minutes hahahahah”. Then we – apparently – sign someone, and “he’s rubbish, he’ll be on a huge wage, you're unsustainable”.

What say we just concentrate on what we know. I’ve never heard of this guy. He’s not even on Wikipedia. So there’s not much to comment on. It’s good that we’re bringing in players, we’ll see if he’s any use once he actually plays.
And, if it meant we were able to get rid of Kingston, that probably wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world...

I don't know how good or bad the spanish third division is but he must be better than Obua who is currently playing on the right wing. If Larry stays he would be a good option to move into Bruno's position leaving us short on the right - Ruben does not play there as the report has suggested.

I've watched quite a bit of Spanish football over the years.

The Spanish 3rd division is the equivalent of the Scottish version of an American football team.

Some good technically gifted players who might get a job as jugglers on a stage but who cannot compete with the genuine article in a physical contest.

I havent seen this ground breaking signing but I am expecting a guy who will flash in and out of games contribute zero and disappear at the end of the season.

Well thats a few weeks that have passed since the big Lithuanian pow wow.

The signing targets were discussed and they were discussed again and then they were discussed once more.

Then the fans were encouraged to buy more season tickets while the signing plans were enacted.

As the new season draws closer I wait and wait and wait and yes at last.A signing of intent.

An unknown Spanish "never was" playing third division football in the back of beyond in the Spanish hillsides.

A cause for celebration?

Shouldnt real Hearts fans be up in arms over what is being done in the clubs name?

The real fans have already bought there tickets and would do no matter what.

There's a few Hearts fans on here saying how much they trust Csaba in his signings.

If I'm right the only signings he's made are Obua who is not a good player, and Tullberg who is an injured not good player.

So why do you trust him? What has he shown in these uninspiring signings that he has made that this Spanish fella will be any better?

The Spanish 3rd division is regularily on TV in Spain and is not of a stadnard similar to that of league 1 in England, It is used mainly as a youth league for the big clubs in Spain and the rest of the clubs are very ordinary. Still that's not to say that the Jesus will be mince, I know nothing of him...

Let's be honest here. At the present moment in time we don't know ANYTHING about this guy.

At the moment Csaba's SIGNINGS have been at best 50/50

Obua undoubtedly can play on his day...maybe he just took longer to adjust than we would have liked...his big test will be the coming season.

Tullberg...well who the hell knows what he might be capable of? Not exactly Csaba's fault that he's made of glass.

Balogh...not a bad find at all when you consider how difficult it is to get decent keepers in.

But what is CERTAIN is that if a player WANTS to work hard and is prepared to listen, then Csaba will get the best out of him.

I hold nothing against Ian Black but he is an ordinary runabout player who can kick a ball fairly hard.He is not an inspiring personality in my humble opinion.

Now if this Spanish singer was on the table for discussion at the Lithuanian secret summit then that tells a tale.

Casba maybe saw a lad playing in a park in Edinburgh and had him on his list too.

Hearts need players of proven substance -like Hartley- and they wont get them if they wont pay for them.

You never mentioned "inspiring personality" in your previous posts. Should clubs only sign young Scottish players looking for a step up if they have the "X" factor then?

What tale does the Spanish lad being discussed tell us exactly?

Did Hartley have "proven substance" when we first signed him? No...he had a VERY patchy career up until then.
Did Colin Cameron have this "proven substance"?

Just come clean and admit that you have no idea what the hell you are talking about!

And as for your IQ nonsense...knowledge does not equal intelligence.

But, yeah....if not knowing or caring what you ramble on about means that I have a low IQ then I confess to being stupid!
