CELTIC have been rebuffed in a bid to sign Argentine internationalist Fernando Cavenaghi.
Club officials met Bordeaux representatives in France last week to enquire about the £6m-rated 24-year-old striker, who holds an Italian passport and has been capped three times.

Efforts to sign Romanian defender Gabriel Tamas are expected to prove more fruitful. A £3.5m fee has been agreed with Auxerre and negotiations to iron out the player's wage demands remain ongoing as Celtic head to Portugal today for games against Cardiff City, Middlesbrough and Porto.
