FORFAR Athletic will step up their search for a new manager at a board meeting on Monday night. Jim Moffat was sacked after Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Stenhousemuir left them only one point off the bottom of the Third Division.

Gary Bollan, David Bingham, Dick and Ian Campbell and former boss Ray Farningham are amongst those who have been linked with the Station Park position following the departure of Moffat.

However, chairman Neill Wilson last night insisted he and
his fellow directors had no-one in mind for the job.

He said: "We have a completely blank canvas at the moment and will consider all serious candidates on their merits. We are having a board meeting on Monday night and we'll look at any applications then."

Moffat lasted just over a year at the club after taking over from George Shaw but managed only eight wins from 35 league games this season.

Bingham, who played for Forfar earlier in his career, is also believed to be a target for Berwick Rangers, who sacked Michael Renwick at the weekend.

Renwick insists he has not been put off a return to management following his sacking from Berwick Rangers.

The former Hibs defender lasted only six months at Shielfield Park after taking over from John Coughlin in October, during which time he won just two matches.

Saturday's 5-2 defeat at home to Raith Rovers proved the final straw for the Berwick board but Renwick insists he has no regrets over his stint as boss.

He said: "I tried to raise the bar and improve the professionalism at the club and I'm quite happy with what I tried to achieve.

"I enjoyed the experience and if I turned the clock back I would do it all again. It was something I wanted to do and it certainly hasn't put me off doing it again in the future."
