WHITEHILL WELFARE aim to reduce the gap at the top of the Tyreman Premier Division when they host Lothian Thistle at Ferguson Park tonight (6.30pm).
Whitehill, after their 2-0 away win against Dalbeattie Star at the weekend, currently trail league leaders Edinburgh University by six points although they do have four games in hand.

"It was a hard, hard game against Dalbeattie and a 2-0 scorelin
e actually flattered us," said Whitehill manager Raymond Carr.

"Now we have to treat every game as a cup final starting tonight against Lothian Thistle. We are not complacent and everyone is in the right frame of mind.

"We are still playing catch up and there is a lot of football to be played between now and the end of the season."

Whitehill will give a late fitness test to captain Ross Johnston who missed out on Saturday.

Opponents Lothian Thistle are climbing out of the relegation zone and gained a valuable point against Selkirk on Saturday.

Easthouses Lily also need points to ensure their Premier Division safety and they entertain second-bottom Selkirk who desperately require a victory to give themselves any hope of avoiding the drop.

Easthouses will be without striker Scott Borthwick who is suspended for two games while visitors Selkirk have Craig Livingston, Craig Tyson and goalkeeper John Dodds all on the treatment table.

In the King Cup, second round, Edinburgh University – the holders – await their great rivals Heriot-Watt University with both sides currently top of the respective Premier and First Divisions.
