VOLUNTEERING at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games could lead to qualifications, organisers have said.
Derek Casey, the director of the city's successful Games bid, said 15,000 people from across the country were expected to volunteer at the sporting tournament.

And he said he wanted to explore whether qualifications could be given to them where appropriate.

Mr Casey said: "The skills our 15,000 volunteers will have will vary widely as we expect they will come from every background, from unskilled to professional and from throughout the country. They will have a huge range of experience and expertise."

Mr Casey said that, having spoken to the Scottish Qualifications Authority and other agencies, he wanted to "explore the possibility of qualifications being available for appropriate volunteers".

He added: "It is really important to recognise their contribution."
