THE "young guns' were the stars as Lothians Boys staged a remarkable recovery to beat their Fife counterparts 6-4 in a friendly at Pitreavie.
The visitors were trailing 6½-3½ at the turn but showed real grit and determination to register a fine victory in a match that featured five players under 18, three under 16 and two under 14.

After Fife had won the top three matches, Euan Patterson, Euan Mackay, Chris Low, Joe Richards and Greg Smail hit back for the Lothians, the latter winning the last two holes to clinch his point.

Euan Bowden, who was one down with three to play, clinched the victory by winning the 16th and 18th to beat Robbie Spriddle in the decider.

Results (Lothians names first): B Pelling lost to M Lindsay 3 and 2; D Kay lost to E Crawford 3 and 2; S Twist lost to A Pillans 2 and 1; E Patterson beat J Penman 3 and 1; E Mackay beat C Spence 4 and 3; C Low beat N Beattie 4 and 3; J Richards beat E Scott 3 and 2; G Smail beat J Thorburn 2 and 1; S Simpson lost to S Jamieson 6 and 5; E Bowden beat R Spriddle one hole.
