FORMER Manchester United midfielder Richie Jones has undergone a medical with Hearts as the Edinburgh club close in on their first signing of the summer.
Jones, 21, appeared five times for the English Premier League champions prior to his release last month, and Hearts are now vying with Tranmere Rovers amongst others for his signature.

He has gone through a stringent medical examination and is keen on the prospect of moving to Scotland to revitalise his career. Coaching staff at Riccarton are currently awaiting medical results before pressing ahead with their attempts to sign the former England Under-19 internationalist.

With several first-team players close to leaving Tynecastle, Jones' arrival would be the first in the way of reinforcements for next season.

Is this boy mental?

He has either never read a paper or really has no options.

The Tranmere board must be confident.

1# The scouting department have obviously been watching this lad and VR will be finalising the deal, i know nothin should be done without a Manager appointment and his final decision.

But just Wikipedia this lad, hes got good experience for a 21yr old, specially with the Man u reserves and playing in every under at national level, not just anyone gets a chance with england youths.

I hope we get this lad i really do.

What will medical be?

1. Can you balance bean bag on head and stand on one leg?

2. How far can you kick ball up pitch?

3. Are you strong enough to carry Nade on back when running up pitch?

Joey Barton will be next in on a 6 month loan deal.
Chas exclusive.

Who?,

01/07/2008 12:49:40
Always nice to sign new players, however i would suggest its better the new manager does the identification and recruitment of new players- oh wait its vlad....

Hopefully the guy has some hunger and desire and is not up here to do a glasweigan: Put on a tracksuit and bump off work!

Oh yes, and please let him not be another central midfielder who has defensive tendancies- we have a squad full. What we need are a new goalkeeper, 1 (poss 2) centre backs, 1 full back, one righ/ left midfielders and 3x strikers.

it would have been like that biscuit advert on telly...

player being examined by vlad wearing a doctors white coat and one of those silly mirror things on his head... player says "you're not a real doctor are you?... vlad "no, i'm a banker".

#1 "MR ROMANOV" buys the players and picks the team after all its "HIS" club isnt it

#10 Tranmere amongst others, but correct if Tranmere are the height of the others then it says little. Mind you Porter came from Oldham and there have been some others that have flourished from that league in the past.
My worry he will have Michael Stewart syndrome, I used to play for a big team, I'm ace and this is all small time.

I'm surprised we're not back in for Momo Sissoko and Darren Potter!

Kaunas numpties and people he once saw in champions league qualifiers, that seems to sum up nutjob's scouting policy.

Complete players are not going to come from man utd to hearts, hence he must be raw talent that needs to be nurtured. To nurture talent you need an experienced manager with authority and the knowledge to pass onto such young players.....you can see where am going with this then?

Speaking of ex Man Utd men, Hearts should go for big Ron Atkinson.

He'd soon put Romanov in his place.

I am absolutely disappointed with the lack of transfer activity at Tynecastle.

Don't know anything about this Jones guy but from what I have heard, he is a good player though I have not seen him myself.

Ideally Hearts need about 1 or 2 strikers - Lee McCullouch not sure about Derek Riordan. A couple of midfielders.

I would offload Stewart and Elliot particularly Stewart regarding his stupidity at Tannadice in January.

Need players that are gonna play for the shirt.

Keep Berra definately as he is the only one who gives Hearts 100%.

If we strengthen the squad, top 6 is definite though the current quality of the squad Hearts should get into the top 6.

Just need to get their act together both on and off the field and Romanov need to take a back seat or hand over control to someone who has the clubs interest at heart with passion (Simon Jorda/Steve Gibson type figure)
