Larry hails Laszlo for uniting Hearts

LARRY KINGSTON believes Csaba Laszlo has succeeded in just a few weeks where other managers have failed – by uniting the Hearts squad. The Hungarian coach has been in the job for a month and saw his team record a morale-boosting 1-0 win over English Premier League new boys Hull City at the weekend.
The visit of the Tigers to Tynecastle was the Jambos' last pre-season match before they kick off their SPL campaign with a home clash against

Mark McGhee's Motherwell on Saturday.

Since Laszlo's arrival, his frank assessments of where his squa
d needs to improve and his willingness to ruffle feathers have impressed supporters while his man management skills have won over the playing staff.

Uniting a squad fractured by near constant off-field dramas over the past couple of seasons was always going to be the biggest challenge faced by the new incumbent of the Tynecastle hot seat.

However, Kingston insisted that Laszlo has repaired much of the damage done over the past couple of years in double quick time.

"The new manager here is a very good man," said the Ghana internationalist.

"He is well organised, a professional man and he has brought the team together so well. He has also raised the discipline in the team and all the players want to work hard for him. He has brought a very big change.

"At the moment, all the players have confidence in him and he has confidence in us as well. Now we are a more organised team than last season, we are playing more competitive football and even more compact football.

"There is more tactical play in our game and I think we believe in the new manager. The players are together now, we're working harder and helping each other on the pitch.

"We're giving everything and slowly the improvement is coming.

"I feel happier now. At the moment I'm more relaxed and looking forward to starting the new season. We have had a good pre-season, everything has been more organised. I think it's better than last season. The pre-season last year was okay but this summer was much better. That's a good sign.

"The manager has a European style of coaching. I've played under European coaches and African coaches and I think Csaba is predominantly European. He hasn't brought anything special from Africa, I think he has his own ideas."

Sunday's triumph over Hull gave Hearts a welcome lift going into this weekend's visit of the Steelmen, following a couple of disappointing results during their pre-season tour of Germany.

Admittedly, Hull look like a side who will struggle badly in the English top flight this season but they did, nonetheless, provide a decent final test for Laszlo's men ahead of the start of the SPL.

Despite a number of injury problems Hearts looked assured throughout the 90 minutes and fully merited the win over their opponents from east Yorkshire. And, while it was only a warm-up game, Kingston believes there are plenty of positives to be taken.

"It was a vital and important game because we have less than one week to the new season," said the midfielder.

"Everything is motivating us to start the league well. I can see that, since the training camp in Germany, we have been improving on each and every game, which is a very good sign.

"We have a lot of young players at the moment but, as I keep saying, football is not played with names. Our youngsters need the support of senior players and we are giving it to them now. On Sunday we had a very young player (Brown] playing on the left and he did quite well. It's up to the senior players in the team to give them confidence."

By his own admission, Kingston failed to produce the kind of form he is capable of last season for Hearts when a combination of injury and African Nations duty with Ghana limited the number of times he turned out for the men in maroon.

But, with a new manager at the helm and a renewed sense of optimism surrounding the club as the new season approaches, he is determined to get back to his best and help the club enjoy a successful campaign.

With no obvious goalscorer in the team – Juho Makela, Calum Elliot and Jamie Mole have all failed to find the net with any regularity in the past and it would be unfair to burden young Gary Glen with the responsibility – the likes of Kingston will be expected to chip in with a number of goals this term.

And Kingston is relishing the challenge of trying to get his name on the scoresheet with more frequency.

"My aim is to improve upon each and every game. The season is about to start and I'm going to give everything I have, then we will see what happens," he said. "My main position is midfield but I'm the type of player who can hold a lot of positions, it depends how the manager wants me to play.

|In the national team I play on the right and I'm comfortable there. Nothing changes, whether I play on the right or in the middle.

"I'm the type of person who wants to score in every game but sometimes it depends how the match goes. I will have my chances and I always want to put the ball in the back of the net. If the chance doesn't come I will do everything possible to make an assist or help in some other ways.

"All the midfielders we have can score. Driver can do it, sometimes I can do it, so can Michael Stewart on occasions. We are very comfortable with good midfield players who can create surprises for opponents.

"I'm a positive player who likes going forward a lot so hopefully through this season I can contribute a few goals."

Kingston echoes what was transparently obvious on the park on Sunday past. Long way to go but the'basics' have been adressed under Csaba in a matter of weeks.
Web site also confirms busiest week to date re season tickets.
Will now leave the usual suspects to destroy any chance of a constructive debate fueled by their own insecurities.

Heard that everything is not so rosey with the new Hearts manager. despite being promised autonomy with team selections he is still being forced to pick certain Lithuanian players like Zaliukas. Apparently he is also raging that Romanov is depserate to offload Karapidis whom he considers their best central defender in order to fit Zaliukas into the team.
He was promised money to strengthen the team but has now been told to basically make do with what he has because of the cost cutting excercise going on, he had identified Dougie Freedman as preferred choice to lead the line but Romanov is not willing to sanction this over the difference of about a grand a week between what Freedman wants and they're willing to pay.
There's been a few other things that have to got to him like the attitude of certain "untouchable" players.

All in all things aren't looking as great as they may seem for Hearts new saviour, so wouldnt be surpirsed to see him binned or walking out pretty soon, as his relationship with Romanov is starting to deteriorate quickly.

Hi Vic, old fella. I have actually heard what poster 2 says from a few different sources including Jambo's.

Surely you are not just dismissing it right away? Afterall all the the Jambo's seemed to really believe Mixu was about to walk. Or are Hibs rumours different... ; )

People will believe what they want to believe. Csaba sounds pretty enthusiatic to me though, wishful thinking perhaps from me, but more likely at this stage from Hibbees.
The truth is out there.....somewhere.

Vic, going not too bad at all ta.

I actually agree that the rumour is more than likely to be gargage. My point however is that a hell of a lot of Jambo's believed the Mixu rumour and used it to score some points, however the one regarding Hearts is instantly garbage.

I do fail to understand the anxiety to get rid of Karapidis. He is the most accomplished CB we have with the ball at his feet. Not the greatest in the air but can improve in that department. Unless he is another high earner that Vlad wants off the wage bill or he himself has been asked to take a pay cut to sign a contract extension which wouldnt surprise me.

again, people will simply believe what they want to believe.

And when they were at the training camp Romanov insisted everyone had to eat Borsch, (Russian beetroot soup), breakfast, lunch and dinner as he considers this to be 'special brain food' for footballers.
Csaba refused point blank to eat it, but all the Lithuanian players sided with Vlad, saying it was thier favourite.
It ended up all the Lithuanians plus Vlad and a few henchmen were at one side of the dining hall with all the other players at the other and they were all lobbing cabbages and potatoes at each other, really hard!
Christophe Berra tried to take on the captain's role and stood in the middle telling everyone to just stop it!, but to no avail.
In the ensuing melee Mirsad Beslija, who was nearly fully recovered from injury was skiffed by a flying cabbage and is now out for eight weeks!
And they think things are ok at Hearts?

There's no anxiety to get rid of Karipidis. He has asked for a transfer back to Greece because of family reasons but Laszlo has refused to sanction a move until adequate cover is in place - will probably depend on whether Obua gets his WP as he can play at centre back, left back, left midfield or as a second striker.

I have been a jambo for over 40 years and this is the first time in a long time I am actually looking forward to the start of the season. Lets all get behind Csaba and Vlad, treat rumours with a pinch of salt and kick some old firm ass this season!

Looks like Vlad could be changing the face of Scottish football - referees on strike (nearly) and the SFA not defending them - what do you all think?

I think that if a group of workers perform to an inadequate level then they should not be rewarded with a pay rise.

If i was to perform in such an inadequate manner as Mike McCurry and Andy davis etc then i would be fearing being handed my jotters not greetin' about not getting a pay rise.

Get the Old Firm to pay them then they would be on performance related pay.

#2 I can confirm that story is complete nonsense from start to finish. Poor attempt at a wind-up. If Karipidis moves it's for family reasons. Berra and Zauliskis had a very good partnership after Elvis left in any case, and Zal is more of a threat at set pieces. As for Freedman -he's a 34-year old past-it striker looking for a final payday. His agent's touting him around and Leeds looks the most likely destination.

Fabulous. Well done Kaunas.

Gers new sponser - easyjet in + out of europe in 3 hours.

Great result. Still soured by talk of rankyers players being tired from last season - what a bunch of w4nkers. Get paid thousands each week for the best job in the World, a months holiday etc.

How the f-uck can they be tired? They train every day for f-ucks sake.

Perhaps they should take up cycling where they have to train 6hrs a day, 6 days a week for a tenth of the salary. The cyclists competing in the Tour De France have a much tougher job.

Other European teams such as Liverpool, Chelsea etc don't have to get games postponed to compete and then complain about losing the league, because of a backlog of fixtures.

rankyers - get it up ye - the most hated club in the UK.
