CSABA LASZLO will decide within the next two weeks who is to be Hearts' first choice goalkeeper after admitting he cannot continually rotate the last line of defence.
Janos Balogh, the Hungarian on loan from Debrecen, will debut against Airdrie United in the Co-operative Insurance Cup tomorrow night provided international clearance arrives in time. He will become the fourth different goalkeeper to play in Hearts'
opening four matches of the season after Steve Banks, Jamie MacDonald and Marian Kello.
Laszlo stressed today he is not concerned about the situation having a negative impact on the team but acknowledged he must reach a decision on a No.1 goalkeeper swiftly.
"Very quickly we will decide on a No.1. This definitely has to happen soon, we need maybe one or two weeks," said the manager. "The competition is open at the moment and I'm giving everybody their chance.
"Goalkeeping was a big problem when I arrived. We had only one goalkeeper, now we have a lot of goalkeepers and many possibilities. I am not worried about this, I am happy about this.
"We have Jamie MacDonald, Balogh and Kello, three young goalkeepers who can provide competition. If everything is okay, Balogh will have the chance to play tomorrow. Why not? He is a good goalkeeper but we must have clearance first. If not, I will have to make another decision."
Danish forward Mike Tullberg is nearing full fitness following a muscle injury, however, Laszlo appears loathe to play him against Airdrie. "Mike is not fully fit so I don't want to risk him. I think it may be a bit early but he is working hard. He is fit but not fit for the games," he said.
