HEARTS owner Vladimir Romanov attended a reception at 10 Downing Street last night as the club picked up an award for investing in the local community.
Hearts were one of 21 companies from across the UK to receive a CommunityMark award at the Business in the Community's Awards for Excellence gala dinner at the Royal Albert Hall.

Mr Romanov was among business leaders who met with John Denham, Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills, in Downing Street before the dinner.

Campbell Ogilvie, Hearts managing director, said: "Heart of Midlothian has played an active role in the Edinburgh and wider Scottish community for over 130 years and we are naturally delighted to be amongst the first recipients of such a prestigious award."

Design Links, a communications agency from Leith, and Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBoS) were among those also honoured.

#2. You just demonstrate your parochial nature. There are lots of football club owners around Europe talking with agents.

#5. If Romanov is ever honoured in the UK, it will be because some politicians want him to be honoured, it won't be Romanov's move - what a stupid comment to make.

The story shows that Hearts continue to be working to the benefit of the community, sadly you hobos don't get it.

I am reliably informed by a friend in the Planning Dept that when Romanov had initial discussions with the planning dept over his proposals for the bank he bought in St. Andrews Square, (which has been lying empty for about a year now- is there a planning app for this?) he proposed to the planning dept that the 41m high Melville monument be altered to become the Romanov monument, replacing the statue of Lord Melville with a stone statue of himself at the top.
Needless to sat the planners told him to f_ck off!
Still, shows you the mind of the man.

Vladimir Romanov is not Hearts and never will be.
Even the great Freddie Glidden said he was having nothing further to do with our club under this dictator.
But you probably dont know who he is.
Shame for you the statue wasnt built, you could have absailed to the top to lick VR's baws.

#6 Jam Tart,

Dear God sir, I hope you brush your teeth regularly. Your breath must stink with that amount of licking... although, no doubt you'll tell me, MR Romanov has an exceptionally clean posterior.
