A PORTABLE street football pitch has been launched by Hibs and Hearts players and police officers in Leith.
Jambos midfielder Michael Stewart joined Hibees stars Lewis Stevenson and Andy McNeil at the port's Newkirkgate Shopping Centre last night.

The 'Street Football' event was organised by the Neighbourhood Action Unit at Leith Police Station and funded by a grant from the Leith Regeneration Outcome Agreement. PC Andy Johnson, of the Neighbourhood Action Unit, said: "We plan to use the pitch in areas where we have specific problems with regards to anti-social behaviour and young people. The pitch packs into a trailer and can be quickly assembled on any spare patch of ground."

#1 Seems the social concerns are down your way, this should surprise no one. They even used an ex Hibee, just to emphasise the point.

So much for anti-social behaviour youths,,,,out of all the people taking part there was only one group who fitted into this category, ( police have worked with this group on/off for a while as has the local street work teams) the rest came from local schools and youth organisations,,,,,,a very good publicity stunt by the local constabulary and councillers

Would the new Hearts stadium plan lead to overcrowding problems?
Yes, emergency vehicles would struggle to get in.
Yes, but these could be fixed by banning cars on match days.
No, there’s still plenty of space left for more fans.
