HIBS today revealed they are on track to sell at least as many season tickets as last year after fans rushed to snap up their offer of an interest-free payment plan.
Supporters had until the middle of this week to subscribe to the plan which allows them to spread the cost over four months and ticket office staff spent Thursday and Friday processing a huge backlog of applications.

Today Ian Spence, the Easter R
oad club's marketing and communications director, disclosed that more fans than ever had taken advantage of the offer, putting Hibs on course to match last year's record of 11,500 sales.

Spence admitted he was further heartened at the take-up rate given the current economic background, saying: "We've found in previous years that the interest-free plan, which many clubs don't offer, accounts for around ten per cent of all our season ticket sales.

"We definitely sold more by Wednesday's deadline than we did last year which is good news and would suggest we are on track to at least get the numbers we did last season, just more than 11,500." Hibs fans have been warned that with the possibility of work beginning on a new East Stand during the course of the coming campaign, season ticket sales will be capped and away fans sitting in the South Stand could be restricted – the Evening News understands to just 1400 – to allow supporters to switch from the current East Stand during the redevelopment.

Spence admitted that news didn't seem to have impacted on sales so far, but insisted buying a season ticket would be the only way to guarantee a seat for all home SPL matches and possibly UEFA Cup games.

Current season ticket holders have until June 2 to renew their seats but any fan buying before May 16 will get a £10 voucher off the club's new away kit, which is due to be launched shortly.

You absolutely deserve to sell more season tickets than Hearts. In fact, Hearts don't deserve to sell any.

Only problem is - next season is likely to be just like the last 50-odd for you. An outside chance of winning the wee cup and nothing else.

Despite my disgust with Romanov, I'd still rather be a Jambo. If Vlad comes right, we could well be back up there again, challenging for everything. If he doesn't, we will be back down with the Cabbages, challenging for the Top 6.

What a grim prospect that is!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, You're lot should not have to resort to gimmicks to sell season tickets for next year. The Hibernians have had a great season and fans should be desperate to see you all doing well next time. However,Heart of Midlothian,THE CAPITALS TEAM,deserve nowt but will still attract more people through the gates,I wonder why ?

Funny really that it was Robinson's successor that made the pie crust promises. You'd have thought it would have been the pieman himself would have done that. World Class managers, World Cup players, Champions League winners, state of the art new stand. Pie crust promises all of them. Easily made and easily broken. We might not be as big a team but we can rest easy knowing we've not been lied to just to get our money.
