SCOTLAND Juniors retained the Umbro Quadrangular tournament after securing a battling 1-1 draw with the Republic of Ireland on the final day of the Isle of Man tournament.
After victories over the hosts and Northern Ireland, the Scots knew that a share of the spoils against the Republic – who had beaten them in their last two meetings –would be enough to top the group.

Irvine Meadow defender Paul Hillands scored from the penalty spot before David Lacey levelled proceedings. And despite facing an Irish onslaught in the final 15 minutes, Scotland were able to cling on.

Boss Keith Burgess said: "I've won a few things in the junior game, but this has to be right up there with the best of them.

"We deserved to win it, we were never behind in the whole tournament and were really positive throughout.

"This is a very young squad with a lot of very good stars who can be stars for years."
