LEIGH Griffiths hit the goals which put Livingston on top of the First Division and underlined Italian manager Roberto Landi's dream of taking the club back into the SPL.
The visitors had the ball in the net after six minutes, young Griffiths tucking the ball into the net past goalkeeper Pierre Martini, but referee Stephen Finnie had signalled offside.
Livingston clearly fancied their chances, and why not, after t
humping Dunfermline 4-0 on their home patch last year?
On-loan Rocco Quinn had a shot from 20 yards but the ball sailed harmlessly over. It was proving a frustrating afternoon for Dunfermline's front pair of Andy Kirk and Graham Bayne.
It got even more frustrating when Griffiths stroked the ball into the net following a pass across the face of goal from Murray Davidson.
With absolutely no challenges from the Livingston defence, Griffiths had all the time in the world to give his side a deserved lead, although Pars' goalkeeper Paul Gallacher believed offside should have been given.
Dunfermline hauled themselves back into it thanks to Kirk whose glancing header flashed past Pierre Martini.
With 16 minutes left, Griffiths made it 2-1 with a brilliant solo effort, although they were to survive a major scare as Kirk's header came off the crossbar.
It was a thrilling ending to a keenly contested match though Dunfermline were not helped by the absence of the injured trio of Greg Shields, Stephen Glass and Kevin Harper along with the suspended Nicky Phinn.
