THE Queen completed an Olympic first yesterday as she crossed the finishing line of London 2012's 100-metre race.
The monarch walked a 20-metre stretch of the track as she was shown around the site of the Games' main stadium in east London.

The Queen also met London mayor Boris Johnston at the site shortly after he was hailed as "a knight on a shining bicycle".

The mayor went to the aid of a woman being attacked by a group of girls on Monday night, chasing them down the street – even though one had an iron bar. Franny Armstrong, documentary maker and climate change activist, was walking home in Camden, North London, when she was surrounded by a group of hoodie-wearing girls and pushed against a car.

She called out for help to a passing cyclist, who turned out to be Mr Johnson.

He stopped and chased the girls down the street, calling them "oiks", according to Ms Armstrong.

"He was my knight on a shining bicycle," she said.

" The monarch walked a 20-metre stretch of the track "

Gawd! I'll bet she'll need a holiday after that!

Jings,

Naw - I expect she went to another engagement straight after. She probably does more work in a day than you do in a week.

2# Well said. A remakable woman in her eighties. Worry about what will come when she dies though.

All these royals should be put out to work.

Correction! just abolish the sectarian institution, which costs the Scottish taxpayer millions every year.

Away with them.

#3 Its little wonder that these royal parasites live on to a great age. They are all wrapped up in cotton wool, paid for by you and me.

Liberty Valance,

I'm not particularly a royalist or not - but I can't ignorance.

I've got an Uncle who worked as the Queen's footman for a few years and he described to me just how hard the woman works - she's been on duty 24-7 for the past 57 years and puts more work in at 80 than most folk do who are half her age.

Sorry - I meant to write "I can't stand ignorance" - there you are - it all makes sense now!

Alba,

Your point is pathetic.

A debate on the constitutional value of the monarchy is valid.

A debate on the Valuable work done by the Royal Family is valid.

A debate on the costs and benefits of the Royals is valid.

But it is a gross distortion of the truth for you to suggest that a woman who has dedicated her life to the service of others is a sponger.

Nobody pays attention to these royal scroungers anymore. They are a symbol of Britains sordid past and it is time for them to go.

Corky!
Typical brown-nosing sycophant.

If YOU want these sponging parasites YOU pay for them by voluntary subscription.
I want a democratically elected Head of State who actually knows something about real life.

LV - yes they do and no they aren't.

JM - Face facts chummy, she works harder than you do - it's a damn lie to call her a sponger - and do you really think an elected HoS would actually know much more - and given her experience and the number of people she meets I reckon she knows a lot more than you do. Not a brown noser - just someone who can't stand liars.
