JIM McINALLY quit as Morton manager last night – after initially handing in his resignation at the weekend.
Former Dundee United captain McInally resigned after Saturday's defeat to Clyde, which saw his side slip to second bottom of the First Division, but was asked to reconsider his decision over the weekend. However, after assessing the situation, McInally stuck to his guns and club chairman Douglas Rae said on the club's official website: "Jim has indicated that the only way the players are going to find favour once again with the supporters is if a new manager is brought in and I've accepted his resignation with regret."

McInally's assistant Martin Clark will also leave Cappielow.
