HOT-HEAD Stevie Tosh was red carded as Queen of the South extended their unbeaten league run to four games at Cappielow yesterday.
Incredibly, it is almost 20 years to the day since Morton last defeated Queen's in the league at Cappielow.

Queen's, still smarting from being dumped out of the Alba Cup by the same opponents six days earlier at Dumfries, were desperate for reven
ge, and Stephen Dobbie showed his intent in six minutes with a clever turn and shot, but Morton goalkeeper Kevin Cuthbert saved well low down.

Five minutes later Stewart Kean again tested the Morton goalkeeper with an angled 20-yard drive, which he did well to push round the post.

Morton's only real chance in the first period came in 19 minutes when veteran defender Jim Thomson was short with a pass-back and goalkeeper Cammy Bell had to race from goal to clear.

Queen's were by far the more inventive outfit and in 22 minutes Kean's clever chip to the left found Tosh in space, but his 15-yard volley crashed back off an upright and out to safety.

The Queen's midfielder was yellow carded in 66 minutes for dissent and three minutes later launched another verbal volley at referee Crawford Allan and was sent off.

Morton, inspired by this, almost snatched the winner 10 minutes from time when Iain Russell created space for himself and unleashed a 25-yard left foot shot which skimmed the top of the crossbar.
