EDINBURGH FALCONS cycle speedway side go into their opening Northern League fixture of the season tomorrow with club captain Gav Kennedy insisting that the Capital side are in good shape physically for the task ahead.
Falcons welcome Hull to Redbraes Park on Broughton Road (first race 2pm, admission free) and Kennedy looked ahead to the challenge saying: "We've had an excellent pre-season. The mix of road runs and track work has resulted in the majority of guys looking a lot fitter than at the same point last season."

Falcons have lost two of their three leading riders from last season, with Ian Lawrence having left for Filton and Mikey Hewitson switching to Bury, but Kennedy is urging newcomer Jake Slight and the returning Neil McPherson to prove that the departing stars are not irreplaceable.
