THOMAS JONASSON looks certain to miss Edinburgh Monarchs' vital home and away Premier Trophy speedway clashes against Workington Comets this weekend after injuring his back during his side's 49-41 Spring Trophy win at Glasgow Tigers on Sunday.
The Swede, 19, is scheduled to visit his doctor today but, according to Monarchs spokesman Mike Hunter, the prospects of him riding don't look good. "The way things are being discussed it looks as if Thomas will miss our matches against Workington and he'll probably miss two engagements in Poland as well.

"If Thomas is ruled out we will use the rider replacement facility to cover his absence."

Monarchs boss John Campbell commented: "This is the last thing we wanted, but I knew at Glasgow that he wasn't 100 per cent fit."
