DARIO FRANCHITTI returns to action this weekend in NASCAR's second division series to complete a limited schedule of races for the Ganassi Dodge team.
The Bathgate ace heads for the Nationwide Series this weekend at Watkins Glen International, two months after his NASCAR Sprint Cup team disbanded due to a lack of sponsorship.
The 35-year-old Scot, last year's Indy500 winner and IndyCar champ, will share the racing with fellow rookie Bryan Clauson.
It will be Franchitti's first outing on a road course driving a stock car since June. The Scot raced at Watkins Glen three times in IndyCars, finishing third in 2005 and 2007.
"It will be good to get back into a race car and do some racing," Franchitti admitted. "I know the circuit, so hopefully we can have a competitive car and we can score some good points for the team."
