'ARISE Sir Chris", championed the headlines as Scotland's most successful Olympian was awarded a knighthood last week. Sir Chris Hoy's three gold medals were seen as more than an adequate qualification for a knighthood.
But what about Becky Adlington and her two gold medals, the first woman to win swimming gold for Britain in 48 years? She was made an OBE, quite an honour for a 19-year-old with the best yet to come in her career, but did she deserve more?

Funny how none of the SNPites are on bleating about obvious pro-Scottish bias in the honours system!

#1 - pathetic....I suppose the SNP have plans for a Scottish cycling centre, uncosted of course and only possible by hand-outs from Westminster

If the system for handing them out is so arbitrary, then where is the prestige in having them?
The writer fails to come to the most obvious conclusion: That the honors system is completely worthless.
The real honor that the likes of Hoy, or Holmes got was their victory in sporting competition. Everything else is just vanity.
