THE coach of Austrian women's handball team Hypo Niederoesterreich, who went on the court to stop an opposing player from scoring in a Champions League game last week, has resigned. Gunnar Prokop says he "quit my job as a trainer and will go through this with a psychiatrist. I still can't understand why I've done this."
Prokop went on to the court four seconds before the end of last Thursday's match and intentionally collided with an opposing player to stop a counter-attack and deny Metz a chance to score. The match ended in a 27-27 draw.
