EDINBURGH'S Sarah Clark has received a nightmare draw for the start of her Olympic half-middleweight judo campaign.
The 30-year old, competing at her second Olympics, couldn't have a tougher route to the latter rounds when she starts her competition next Tuesday.
She'll take on 2004 silver medalist Claudia Heill in the first round – the same opponent who defeat
ed her in Athens.
And even worse lies ahead should she come through that. Potential second-round opponent, Cuban veteran Driulis Gonzalez, is the reigning world champion and has won medals in her appearances at the last four Olympic Games.
Luck also wasn't on the side of Edinburgh Club team-mate Michelle Rogers in the half- heavyweight class.
Rogers, who made her Olympic debut in Atlanta 12 years ago, will face South Korea's Gyeongmi Jeong, bronze medalist at the 2007 World Championships and silver medalist at this year's highly-competitive Asian Championships.
Fellow Scot Euan Burton, Britain's best medal chance following his bronze medal at the World Championships, will start his campaign against Argentina's Emmanuel Lucenti in the men's half-middleweight.
