COUNTY champions West Barns (East Lothian), Broxburn (West Lothian) and Danderhall (Midlothian) will contest the first round proper of the Roofline Scotland Inter-County Top Ten tournament on Sunday.
The final of the event is at Colinton on Sunday, June 8, but there is no chance of Capital representation as Edinburgh champions Sighthill departed the scene against Abbey of Angus at the preliminary stage, despite having home advantage.
Sighthill
faced an uphill battle after the shock 21-2 demise of Jason Ronaldson in the Singles then Graeme Eddington and David Campbell crashed 24-8 in the Pairs. However, the Triple of Graham Wood, Dave Connelly and Paul Noble went on to win 31-2 and that gave the Fours rink of Stuart Smith, Stuart Isbister, Colin Smith and Alan Scott the hint of a chance to save the day.
Scott had to win by seven shots and sent the pulse rates racing with a run of 1, 5, 1, to cross 16-11 entering the last end but a decision to give the jack away gave the opposition a lifeline that they grabbed to alter the length from very long to very short and it cost Sighthill dear with the loss of a single and the match.
Danderhall shared the points 4-4 with Annan of Dumfriesshire but squeezed through 55-51 on shots.
Yoker (Dumbartonshire) are the visitors to Danderhall and West Barns entertain Sauchie (Clackmannan & Kinross) while Broxburn visit Troon Portland.
IN the Cities & Counties championship, Edinburgh and Leith face Fife County at Colinton tomorrow (2.00pm) while East Lothian travel to Abbeyview (Dunfermline) and Midlothian host Stirling County East at Newbattle. West Lothian make the journey to Melrose to face Border.
