TWO Paralympian medallists are to be recognised at a sporting awards ceremony.
Broxburn swimmer Jim Anderson won gold medals in the 50 metres backstroke and 50 metres, 100 metres and 200 metres freestyle competitions in Athens.
And Livingston athlete Stephen Payton raced to a bronze medal in the 400 metres final at the 2004
World Paralympic Games.
West Lothian Provost Joe Thomas said: "Heartiest congratulations to Jim and Stephen for performing so well and bringing medals home with them to West Lothian.
"I will be sending personal letters to them both on behalf of the people of West Lothian. I also feel sure their medal successes will be recognised at our annual sporting achievement awards ceremony."
Council leader Graeme Morrice added: "Jim and Stephen proved to be excellent sporting ambassadors in representing West Lothian at the highest level at the World Paralympic Games."
Mr Anderson has now notched a total of 16 gold medals in the Paralympic Games, World Championships, German Open Championship, Nordic Championship and the British Open Championship, and has broken five world records.
Mr Payton added his new bronze to the three bronze, four silver and 13 gold medals he has already won in major championships.
