AIRDRIE UTD 3
RAITH ROVERS 0

AIRDRIE United rode their luck in the first half before running out comfortable victors over an unfortunate Raith side.

The Kirkcaldy men dominated in the first half and could easily have led by three goals at the break, Marvin Andrews going clos
e while Steve Hislop was denied by the woodwork before seeing an effort cleared off the line. But it was the Diamonds who were the better team after the break and Darren Smith opened the scoring after 50 minutes from just inside the area. Substitute Bryan Prunty put Airdrie two up midway through the second half, capitalising on a short passback to ghost in and score. Airdrie top scorer Allan Russell completed the scoring after 75 minutes, knocking home the rebound after Prunty's initial effort had been saved.

QUEEN'S PARK 2

BRECHIN CITY 3

A STUNNING second half comeback from Brechin saw them recover from a two-goal half-time deficit to snatch all three points. Paul Cairney fired the Spiders ahead in spectacular fashion with only 75 seconds on the clock. The midfielder cut in from the left before striding forward and unleashing a powerful 25-yard effort. Queens doubled their lead from the penalty spot after Alan Trouten was brought down by John Ward. Trouten took the spot kick himself, and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom left corner.

A defensive lapse from Steve Reilly allowed Brechin back into the game at the start of the second half. The Queens defender was short with a header back and sub Iain Diack nipped in to net. Scott Walker then headed home the equaliser before Darren Smith hit the winning goal from 20 yards.
