AYR United had goalkeeper Stephen Grindlay to thank for earning them a share of the points as Raith created a string of excellent chances.
Both sides came close in the opening five minutes. Alex Williams fired wide for Ayr before Kevin Smith had an effort saved by Grindlay. Williams had the ball in the net soon after, but his effort was ruled out for offside.

Grindlay denied Raith yet again after the break, saving well from Iain Davidson before keeping out Graham Weir.
