JUST a day after his goal set Rangers on the way to a 4-2 win over Celtic at Parkhead, Daniel Cousin left the Ibrox club last night to join Hull City.
The 31-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements at Ibrox for some time.
Fulham tried to buy the Gabon international during the January transfer window but fell foul of Fifa rules, which prevent a player representing more than two clubs in
one season.
The player still occasionally featured in Walter Smith's selections, and was a surprise starter in the Old Firm match on Sunday. He opened the scoring with an acute shot after cutting in from wide on the right. – but later was sent off after receiving two yellow cards.
"It was fantastic to finish my time at Rangers by scoring in the Old Firm game," the striker said last night. "I don't think I'll ever forget that experience.
"It has always been my ambition to play in the English] Premier League.
"It almost happened to me when Fulham came but now it's finally a reality. I wish Rangers all the best and believe they can recapture the title.
"I'd like the fans to know I always gave my best for them."
Cousin joined Rangers from Lens last summer but failed to convince Smith he could become a key part of his plans.
Smith described the forward as "inconsistent" on Sunday after he was sent off.
Hull had wanted to bring Manchester United forward Fraizer Campbell back to the KC Stadium following last season's successful loan spell.
It was unclear how Cousin's arrival would affect their pursuit of the 20-year-old.
Before signing for Rangers, Cousin spent his entire professional career in France, coming to prominence with Le Mans and Lens.
Meanwhile, Blackpool have confirmed the loan signing of Rangers midfielder Alan Gow, subject to international clearance.
The 25-year-old, who joined the Ibrox club from Falkirk last summer but who has made just two first-team appearances – against East Fife in the CIS Insurance Cup and East Stirlingshire in the Scottish Cup – will stay with the Seasiders until 1 January.
The Coca-Cola Championship side also have an option to sign the player permanently for a fee already agreed with Rangers.
Gow started his career with Clydebank but made his name at Airdrie and Falkirk, from where he was snapped up by Rangers.
But the move has not worked out, with Gow finding himself frozen out of the first-team picture.
He was wanted by Burnley and Norwich City recently, but he could now make his Blackpool debut against Barnsley when the Championship resumes on 13 September.
Chris Burke has made his long-awaited return in a closed-doors game at Murray Park after more than four months on the sidelines.
The Rangers winger has been out of action since the Scottish Cup semi-final against St Johnstone in April, when he was carried off with an ankle injury.
Saints were the opponents again yesterday, with Burke playing the first 45 minutes of a 2-1 defeat, which also featured Nacho Novo, Jean-Claude Darcheville and Spanish youngster Aaron.
