Published Date: 03 July 2008
RANGERS striker Kenny Miller claims it has been "so easy" to return to Ibrox for the second time in his career.
The Scotland international played under Dick Advocaat during the 2000/01 season before moving to Wolves. A spell at Celtic followed before Walter Smith snapped the 28-year-old up from Derby County at the end of the season in a controversial move whi
ch has found favour with few Rangers supporters.

After joining up with his Ibrox team-mates at the club's Murray Park training complex earlier in the week, Miller insists his second spell as a Rangers player has begun smoothly.

"It's been so easy to come back," he told Rangers World. "I've not had any nerves at all.

"Obviously when you move to a new club and you don't know anybody then it's a different ball game. There is a settling-in period but it's not been like that here.

"I know the majority of the lads, from playing against them and playing with them with the national team. And there are still some people here from my first time around.

"I know all the coaches and the management, so it's been easy to come straight in."

Coincidentally, Miller could make his Rangers debut against Kaunas for the second time if the Lithuanian club get past Andorra's Santa Coloma in their first Champions League qualifier.

Rangers play the winners of that tie in the second round of qualifying, the first leg at Ibrox at the end of July being their first competitive game of the season.

Miller came on as substitute against Kaunas in a Champions League qualifier in 2000, a 4-1 home win helping ease them into the next round.

The former Celtic striker's memory of his Rangers debut is sketchy but he is keen to sample more Champions League football. "I know we got through comfortably in the end against Kaunas so I hope it will be the same result again," he said.

"I was fortunate enough to sample a few Champions League nights when I was here the first time around and they were special nights and obviously I got a goal in the Monaco game.

"But it's going to be tough, it always is tough because of what is at stake but we are confident that we can make it."

Meanwhile, Rangers manager Smith expects his two veteran defenders David Weir and Christian Dailly to sign new deals when they return for pre-season training.

Weir, 38, and Dailly, 34, were allowed an extended summer break after an arduous season.

Smith expects both to complete talks on new contracts when they return to Murray Park to join the rest of the squad for pre-season training.

"We haven't had a chance to sit down and do things properly yet so Davie Weir and Christian Dailly will get that chance next week when they return to training," said Smith.

The manager also revealed that talks are ongoing with Fulham as he tries to secure the signing of Northern Ireland midfielder Steven Davis, who was on loan at Ibrox last term.

As I've said before....£4m for Davis makes more sense than £3-4m for Lafferty?

With Davis you know what yer getting....he was MOTM 5 times last season....

Lafferty....10 goals in about 600 games?...you just don't know what yer gonna get.!

The Miller/Boyd axis will be the deadliest partnership in the SPL next season, reminiscent of the Hateley/McCoist legendary pairing of old.

Be afraid, Skippy and Ooh Aah. Be very afraid!

What a load of nonsense you two.

Old Firm:

Steven Davis played/started most of Fulham's games in the first 1/2 of the season under Lawrie Sanchez, it was only when Hodgson took over that he was benched.

Still he played great for Rangers and set up several important goals e.g. League Cup Final,Sporting Lisbon away and scored the decisive goal against Werder B. Was a steal in the Jan. transfer window.

Paulmac:

Perhaps you are just pissed off due to the fact the your team were unable to sign Kyle Lafferty.

He scored 5 goals last year from the left wing for Burnley (not too bad) but the telling stat is 5 goals for NI in 16 internationals.

I saw him at Windsor Park versus Spain and excuse the pun but he terrorised the Spanish defense, they could not handle his aerial prowess.

He is only 20 and will be a great addition for Rangers with the long ball game that walter prefers.

Davis did not tire. Teams realised that they did not have to mark Captain Marvel and so could double up on Mr Interesting. 4-5-1 was because of Captain Unbookable.

For Scotlands sake lets hope for a victory for Kaunas.
The more places that the unwashed bigots can travel to,the greater the damage to Scotlands reputation abroad.
The last time Rangers fans travelled there, the Baltic Times reported that their fans were spitting on the locals.

Everyone knows that the Rangers overseas travelling support is one of the best in the world.

It is because of their outstanding good behaviour that if a small incident takes place it goes blown out of proportion, by some parts of the media (and the Numpty Brigade)

The German-based International Federation of Football History and Statistics rank the Ibrox side as No 4 in world football, behind leaders Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

Walter Smith's side are rated by the federation as better than the likes of Barcelona (4th), Roma (5th), Liverpool (6th), Arsenal (7th) and Boca Juniors (8th).

Scottish clubs in general do not fare well on the top 350 published on the IFFHS website (www.iffhs.de). Celtic come next in 50th spot

Celtic to announce a major singing on Saturday

"Celtic boys's club will hold their annual singing contest at 12.00 on Saturday. As usual we expect all of the parents to turn up, and we are not expecting too much trouble", announced a CP official.

After last year's fiasco where the boys ate the pies before they were told to, and had difficulty with the bathroom facilities, CP officials are hoping for a smoother event this time around.

All holidays have been cancelled for the Glasgow Police.

Prodan, Guivarch and Adamchek were signed by advocaat.
Rosentahal was very unlucky with injury (something we seem to specialise in)

Boli was a European cup winner with pedigree who just didn't suit scotland, johansen cost us 300k and made us 3 mill and neither gow nor webster have cost us much at all so not sure about the really bad signings there.

There have been a few from his previous stint but since he came back his signings in general have all be worthwhile.

Your thinking of Van Vossen. After he returned to Feyeenord he was superb and made it back into the Dutch team. Having said that VoH makes it so that aint saying much. That miss ruined his confidence and career at Ibrox.

Wouldn't it be more precise for an SS fan to say " We welcome chasing Celtic".
Granted it lacks the poetic rythymn of "we welcome the chase", but that conceals the fact that you've been humped three times in a row and gives the false impression of parity, perhaps even a bat squeak of fraudulent superiority.

"We welcome the opportunity of Celtic farting in our faces for the 4th time in a row" is clumsy , but closer to the truth don't you think ?

So Rangers are better than Lyon who pumped them in the CL, better than Barcelona who also pumped them in the CL, better than Zenit St Petersburg who pumped them in the UEFA cup and better than Celtic who have left them trailing in their wake for 3 successive years in the SPL. How can this be? Ah yes, Rangers beat Dundee Utd in a penalty shoot-out to win the Corruption Is Successful cup and lifted the Scottish cup after a squeaky 3-2 win over second division opponents following a penalty shoot-out win in the semi-final against another second division side. That record undoubtedly makes them the 4th best team in the world. No argument from me!

The Gers journey to the UEFA cup final certainly put paid to our championship aspirations. Had we been knocked out at an earlier stage in the competition, all this talk of in a row would be non existant. Rangers wanted the league title yes,but that build up of games at the end burnt the team out whilst Celtic had enough rest to finish it off. An excuse? not at all.Its a FACT.Mind you,to go all the way to a European final or win the league,Id chose the final any day.Celtic can take the title again by all means whilst we go for the serious stuff and not the mickey mouse that is the SPL.

In 1972, to be fair, the Spanish police nearly bashed the living daylights out of the Rangers fans, many of whom were merely in high spirits and not intending to cause any trouble whatsoever.

The problem was that a significant cross-section of them were drunk and had behaved abominably – and frightened the local people – in the build-up to the final. And it was this fact which, to this day, remains in my mind as the cause of the most startling and intemperate outburst I have ever come across by a football manager.

Willie Waddell was the Rangers manager back then. Apparently, he was a good man, though he could be sour and grumpy – or “crabbit” as the old Scottish word has it. Waddell was also given to fits of snobbery, in that strange, quite unwarranted way of many old working-class Scots. He openly detested what he viewed as the unsavoury ways of the sort of underclass that followed football (Waddell himself wouldn’t have used the term “underclass” but it was often his clear inference).

In the aftermath of the 1972 Nou Camp riot, while Rangers were busy pleading with Uefa not to come down heavily on the club, Waddell was still beside himself with rage at his club’s supporters when he aimed the following piece of invective at them: “It is to these tikes, hooligans, louts and drunkards that I pinpoint my message – it is because of your gutter-rat behaviour that we [Rangers FC] are being publicly tarred and feathered . . . ”

From today’s perspective, this is eyewatering stuff. Note also, amid all his other opprobrium, Waddell’s pejorative use of such words as “tikes” and “gutter-rat”, clear evidence of the sort of snobbery to which I referred. And can anyone today ever imagine a Rangers manager brazenly using such language? Imagine Walter Smith coming away with this “tikes” and “gutter-rat” stuff: it would be the end of the world, the phone-ins and websites would be in meltdown.

At least the authority figures at Mordor knew what type of person followed

Can Boydychenkov play against the bottom six teams 50+ times in a season?

" "We welcome the opportunity of Celtic farting in our faces for the 4th time in a row" is clumsy , but closer to the truth don't you think ? "

man landed on the moon - prove it.

just admit that your fans now and then are an underclass of society intent on dragging your clubs name through the mud (as if it needed it)

Survivor Of Riots,

03/07/2008 11:42:20
It is now several weeks since Minty Moonbeams went missing.

As you all know, the Riot Survivor has been close to this story since its beginning. His last known movements were in Portugal and ReaRangers Chief Executive, “Mincin’” Martin Bainnochio was given official aguido status by Portuguese Police. As he had no funds to secure hotel lodgings, he was placed in jail until the beginning of May.

Since his release he has been keeping a daily diary which he has asked the Riot Survivor to share with his readers.

May 1st – Dear diary, just got out the jail. Ah wiz holed up in there with some serious criminals, there was Julio, Rapheal and Big Juan. Big Juan certainly lived up to his name. It was a wonderful 2 weeks, but they let me go.
May 14th – Mintys still missing, ah wonder where he is? 2 letters received today, 1 was from Yoofa and (horay) the other was for my renewed subscription to Bunty. I’ll need to get that off to them asap.
May 18th – Oh Minty, where ur ye?? See that letter from Yoofa, they are asking for an explanation of that song “why don’t ye go hoo-ooo-oome”. That’s the only words I know, but ah pure love the tune, I hum it when I’m dusting the living room. See me, ah’m pure turning into Hilda Ogden.
May 25th – Yippee, the new Bunty came today, along with another letter from Yoofa demanding a reply. Aw Minty, I need ye here tae help me with this one. I canny remember if this song is aimed at the Asians, the Poles or the Irish?? Och a’ll just hedge ma bets and say its all 3. Ah’m some wummin, so ah um!
May 32nd – We’ve just decided to extend may to allow Minty time to come home and make his announcement! Hope he hurrys as theres only 31 days in this diary.
May 40th – ah’m pure at ma wits end noo. Still nae Minty. Ah got a phone call from Der Smudger at the SFA and he tells me Yoofa not happy with my reply. He says ah should have tell’t them that it was the Irish only it wiz aboot. Ah hope ah;m no in any trouble!
May 50th – dear diary, I am

waddell said..rangers fans "go up the road and give their wives a slap" when they loose to Celtic ...

again another indication of how we cant place todays values on the culture of 30+ years ago..

I don't always agree with Graham Spiers...I remember him slating Chris Sutton as a hammer thrower just after he'd arrived at Celtic.

However, I do respect Graham Spiers for writing honestly about SS and their fans.

He reported how as at the beginning of his career, he was ever conscious of Sir Minty's relentless overtures to draw him into the poodle network.

Sir Minty even telephoned him one afternoon to tell Spiers that he could get him a made to measure suit at greatly reduced price...."tacky" just doesn't look at it.

Spiers wrote candidly about how so many of his colleagues were far easier prey to Minty's seduction and coined the phrase "winalot journalism" as a reference to the laptoployalists who pick up scooby snacks from Minty for writing on-side reports.

The end result is that Spiers was marginalised within Scottish football media , and is now the subject of a hate campaign by Scotland's Shame and their fans.

#122 spiers is just another one of the monkey media..they do what suits them...turning down murray makes him attractive to celtic fans...although i do like to hear that old rangers supporting duffer roger baillie..my goodness he hates speirs with a vengence...but in the end they are all parasitical scum...xxx

Truly, if you are going to lie in your teeth, make it a big one.

Nervous Barea'rse claiming the European Cup is defunct when, in fact, the only defunct European trophy is the one the dried fruit won, and that the Public Defecators, as they are now known throughout Europe, did not riot in Barcelona or Manchester.

Oh my aching sides.

According to the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (based in Germany), Rangers are currently the 4th best team in world club football.

Only Man Utd, Chelsea & Buyern Munich are ranked higher.

They have taken every result over the past 12 months from every club & Rangers have come out in 4th place.

Celtic are ranked 50th, according to their statistics.

Just thought I'd mention it.

As long as Celtic keep winning the title and reaching the last 16, SS can rank 1st in this statistical chart which probably equalises beating Dundee United at home with Mikey in charge alongside Man U beating Chelsea at home with a neutral referee.

officially rank.

4th? hahaha. c'mon now. Taking three points of Gretna isn't quite the same as beating AC Milan or Liverpool in their respective leagues.

Note the word "evolution". Respect the history of the mighty Celts. 1 big european cup. rangers-two major riots in diddy euro competitions.
