Published Date: 21 May 2008
LEE WALLACE'S agent today stressed that Rangers have yet to submit any offers for the Hearts defender.
Reacting to morning reports that Walter Smith is considering moving for the 20-year-old, Gary Mackay stated that he would have been informed of any bids.

"My relationship with Hearts is such that, during previous meetings, they have always made me aware of any offers for my players," he said. "Given that I haven't heard from them regarding Lee, I can safely assume there have been no bids."

Rangers have previously made Hearts aware of their interest in Wallace with Smith keen to recruit a specialist left-back. The Scotland under-21 international was restricted to a peripheral role at Tynecastle last season with Jose Goncalves often deployed ahead of him at left-back.

Hearts would be reluctant to sell their youth academy product, whose current contract runs until 2011.

Meanwhile, Larry Kingston has been named in Ghana's squad for an international friendly with Australia on Friday. The Hearts midfielder is part of an 18-man party for the match in Sydney.

Why didn't Rangers just go straight to the player, maybe ask him to sit his contract out?

Thats how they normally pick players up from Scotland.

Shame of Scotland.

He is toilet, why rangers would want him god knows. Still better than goncalves who is never sure if he s playing leftback or centrehalf and ends up doing neither. walter smith must see something in him which makes you think why on earth is he so poor for us.

#6 too right mate, hearts fans at the moment are too keen to jump on a players back, as if the rest of the team has set an exemplary standard of quality football. one of our better academy products, don't want rangers stealing another.
8

FINLAYBAR,

i have actually played to a good standard thank you mr judge. he has been poor this season not because i dont think he has no ability but because our team is desperatly short in leadership. as i said walter smith must see something in him but i dont reckon running the ball out of play and not being able to kick the thing with your right foot are the hallmarks of a good young player. doesn t robbie have a cap for scotland?

To be fair, it's pretty hard to judge how good any of the Hearts players are right now. Given the shambles behind the scenes, the random team selections, etc etc it's very hard for players to show their true ability. Look at Bednar.
Just cos a player doesn't look all that great in the current Hearts team, doesn't necessarily make him a bad player...
11

One thing you can rely on from the people from scotland is they never like to see one being successful. I think he stands a better chance at ibrox than staying at tynecastle with maybe the worst hearts side in 20 years and untill they get the Romanov farce sorted they will only get worse.Next season they will probably struggle and end up in a relegation situation and this time there will be know Gretna to come to the rescue.

busbyfh,

At the present Lee Wallace is not good enough a player for Hearts. A new manager might get the best out of him so fingers crossed , but this smacks of Gary Mackay trying to drum up interest in Wallace by using the media (shock,horror)- basically trying to lever Rangers into at least thinking about signing him.
Wallace's positional sense is on a par with Nade's offside radar. The jury is still out on him. (only 20 after all)

McCann - Fairly certain it was around £1.2M - for the best winger in Scottish football was a pitance at the time.
McLaren - again, certain it was around £1M - for the best Scottish defender of his generation was also isulting.
Ritchie - well you said it £1M - were you not signing the likes of Porrini and Amoruso for @ £3/4M at the time?!?!?

Fair price for Ritchie et al, you are joking? Your lot do everything they can to get players for next to nothing from Scottish teams: Ritchie, Webster, Boyd, Naismith, Thomson, Murray to name but a few.

The rest of Scotland would love it if you did Fook off to England where you all want to be (or think you are from).

How can you say £1M was a fair "offer" for Ritchie when he was light years better than those Italian donkeys you bought for 3 times his value? You can't and the reason Rangers offered it ... because they were dealing with another Scottish Club. Thankfully in recent times the OF have been charge what players have been worth ... extract from The Angry Island, AA Gill

It must be said that almost all primitive people think of themselves divenely wrought, singled out and special. Often their names translate simply as 'THE PEOPLE' or, like the San bushmen of the Kalahari, the first people. But this is a symptom of primiteness;

#61 Aye but that's the whole point - the OF come in with pathetic offers and either get the player because the Scottish Clubs can't do without the money, or they don't get them but unsettle the player who then decides he wants to leave because the OF are after him. They then hardly use them, to the detriment of Scottish football and to add insult to injury, say that they don't have enough competition in Scotland! If they just tried rearing some decent talent themselves the whole Scottish game would be in a better state. It can be done: McGeady, McManus, Ferguson, Hutton, McGregor for example.

Hing on a weee second here.....

Clubs like Heart...Hibs....rely on the cash Celtic and Rangers generate...

So don't give us all this tripe about us taking your best players for less than their face value...

We buy Scottish players which keeps the cash in Scotland with Scottish clubs....we could always spend it abroad....

The cash generated by our away support in terms of ticket sales...catering...programmes...hospitality....TV revenue...etc...etc..

The sponsorship deals attracted from abroad which you get an equal share of...

And lets not forget....the reason we have this Frankenstein of a league set up is because of the Hibs and Hearts of this world who demanded to have a league that allowed them the possibility to play Celtic and Rangers as often as might be possible.....for the cash!

So you keep coming to the soup kitchen and we'll keep handing out the cash.....ok!

The Incestuous attitude of OF fans really astounds me. Do you really believe the bile you lot are talking about players transfer fees, match day revenue and television money? You must be on the wind up.

Surely you must agree a stronger LEAGUE would be to the benefit of all and that by playing in such a league indirect income, and decisions, should be spread equally in a pure democratic system.

Where do you get the hieghtened sense of self worth, the vast majority of your fans are bigoted glory hunters and know very little about being a true supporter.

i find it amazing that Glasgow, Rangers and various other non-edinburgh based fans are posting here, being toldthey are scotlands shame whilst saying nothing o an insulting nature, yet you have guys like Dublin Boy who make utter hipocrits of themselves by using the typical glasgow sterotype, and referring to us as German Soldiers (really, for someone dublin based, im sure you can relate to that word).

Scotlands shame? Rangers (or Celtic) ? this comment section sums it up for me.

On Lee Wallace, he would be brought to Rangers as a back up to Smith who needs a full pre-season, whilst Papac will be what Christian Dailly is just now.

Wallace is 20 and, much like your McDonalds, Thomsons & McCanns, they will be in a better football team, on higher wages, and will be on a new training regime which could make them better players.

Alan Gow as a swap i would indeffinetly say no to, however because i feel sorry for the lad, i have to agree it could be good for him.

I wouldnt like to think my club will pay more than £1million for Wallace, if Hertz want more then keep him and use Gow in another deal (rumors doing hte rounds of gow + £4m and steven lennon for 1 season for fletcher).

Super Ally WATP,

And let's hope that Hearts take measures to keep Lee Wallace, as selling to their rivals just doesn't make any sense at all!

Put a 5 million price tag on him, and that will scare any would be interested clubs away hopefully.

Arguing with my points i agree with, the generalisation and racism towards Glasgow is what i dont understand though, people call Rangers the shame of scotland, but when i read the posts here mocking Glasgow, you lot are just as bad, and wether you accept it or not, i make a valid point here.

i refuse to take digs at another scottish city, unlike some here, but at the least i expect some common sense and respect for bringinging a decent argument. I dont hate hibs, i have a good friend whgo is a hibs fan and my dad whos a jambo, but i dont ever make fun of where the teams come from.

the rumors doing the mill are headhunters starting the riot, using tactics only HH use and given the english accents the mancunian police heard.

Not that it makes better what happened, but if proven...it'll prove not all of 200/149,799 were awful.

#122

you just asked when the HH were last at ibrox, i just told you?.

Everyone knows the HH start fights with police, we were all warned before our final, and no one cared, it soon became reality when it happend, and when the policeman identified several english accents.

if im not mistaken though, you just contradicted yourself on the same webpage.

I find it ironic when you are losing an argument that you compare us to "bunnies" when really you've been contradicted, proved wrong and been forced upon to comments of when we were a struggling side in 2006 (2 years ago if you dont already realise its now 2008).

You asked when the HH were last at Ibrox, and i told you. Unless anyone else can confirm it, they may have been here for the UTD game, who knows? all i can tell you is that chelsea and rangers are closer than you make out here, and that the HH followed rangers to Manchester.

As i said before, i have no digs are Hertz here as my own family have connections; but its sounding more and more like jelousy as you continue here bud.

as for the "most hated fans in scotland".

If i recall, Rangers have now established more fan clubs in 4 seperate countrys in 3 seasons, than ANY club including Celtic have in the past 10.

debate that.

Perhaps if you're post didnt quote half of what other people said, and actualy made semse. i would argue; and like previous posts, prove you wrong in what you said.

You asked if the HH were at ibrox, i said they were, and recently as i recall from what i know. You then move on to digs at a minority (if they even were scottish) of fans who caused riots, to which i then further argued with legit points, now you're forced into comments which don't even make sense.

As i've refused previously to take digs at edinburgh, i feel its about time to ask questions, at the least... have primary shcools already started summer term in the east end?

the typical glasgow sterotype does you no favors here either, in fact it makes you look worse, just a small FYI.
