EDINBURGH ACCIES have hinted at a possible inquiry into an incident which left club captain Dan Teague requiring surgery and almost certainly out of Saturday's Scottish Hydro Electric Rugby Premiership derby with Watsonians, at Raeburn Place.
Flanker Teague, a Capital solicitor, is currently nursing 50 stitches in an ear wound.
The damage, sustained in last week's win at Hawick, is being referred to by Accies on their official website.
It states: "We all wish Dan well and a speedy recovery ... this is not the last we will hear of this event."
The match report also refers to Teague's injury as "horrendous" and adds: "Dan Teague had his ear partly ripped from his head. Dan was sent to the Borders General and then transferred to Livingston St John's."
While clearly dismayed at the sidelining of their skipper, Accies are also reporting signs of progress as confirmed by the win at Hawick which moved them up to third in the table.
"It was not the greatest of games and a year ago we would have lost. The Accies forwards were on top throughout.
"To win at Hawick will do the young team good – half the starting team were 20 or under, the youngest being 17 and two of the back-row forwards were 19."
Meanwhile, the SRU were unavailable to comment on the incident involving Teague.
