IN-FORM Currie piled on the agony for title holders Boroughmuir with a win that has extinguished any faint hopes the Meggetland men may have had of retaining the silverware.
The hosts had started well and opened the scoring when Matt Cannon slotted a fourth minute penalty.
However, by the time the Boroughmuir stand-off troubled the scoreboard operator for a second time with half an hour gone, the game was already sli
pping away from the champions.
In the interim, Currie full back Jonny Smith had given his side the lead when he finished off a slick handling move then converted and kicked a penalty.
With only 18 minutes gone Mike Conlon charged down an attempted clearance by Cannon on the Boroughmuir 10-metre line, hacked ahead then gathered and raced in to score.
The visitors extended their advantage with a third try, this time created by the pace of teenage stand-off Matthew Scott who sliced through a gap and, despite being collared just short of the line, offloaded as he fell, passing to pro winger Andy Turnbull, who completed the job and rounded off the first half scoring.
Boroughmuir looked livelier after the restart but Currie soon resumed control. Over-anxiety in sight of the line cost them two clear-cut chances and they reverted to Smith's boot to add a further three points.
Smith grabbed a fourth try after 66 minutes and added the conversion then winger Dougie Fife rubbed salt in the wounds before Ben Fisher snatched a late consolation.
