MELROSE kept up their slim hopes of a second place finish with a hard fought win over Currie at Malleny Park on Saturday.
The Borderers fell 10-0 down in the opening quarter, but they fought back through tries from flanker John Dalziel, winger Ma
rk Robertson and impressive full-back Jordan Macey.
Stand-off Scott Wight was also on form with the boot and coach Craig Chalmers said: "We didn't play well, but we kept going and can still finish second. That might be unlikely, but more importantly we want to keep momentum going ahead of the cup quarter-final (against Hawick] in two weeks time."
Currie scored two unconverted tries through winger Kevin McShane and prop Andrew Reekie but Melrose got on the scoreboard just before the interval, and they gradually took control with Australian Macey leading the way as four points headed for the Greenyards.
