Centre Ben Cairns has signed a new two-year deal with Edinburgh.
The 22-year-old was rewarded with the contract extension after helping Andy Robinson's men finish fourth in the Magners League.
Cairns also made his Scotland bow against Argentina last month.
He said: "It's great to have signed the new deal. Edinburgh is my home city and I've lived here for pretty much my whole life.
"Last season was a great experience and the future is looking really good with so many young guys coming through.
"It is great to be able to play week in, week out with my mates.
"I'm looking to carry on the form I managed last season into the new campaign.
"My first objective is to play well for Edinburgh and then after that I'll be looking towards making an impact for Scotland during the autumn Tests and Six Nations."
Head coach Robinson welcomed the news but believes Cairns can still make improvements to his game.
He said: "Ben had a good season last year culminating in his Test debut for Scotland.
"But it is important he continues to make improvements and that is why he has been given a two-year deal."
