With coach Frank Hadden seeking to replace the recently-axed George Graham, a report in the Irish media headlined "O'Donovan set for Scottish role" strongly hints that the 48-year-old former Shannon No. 8 will be submitting an application and coach
ing CV to Murrayfield.
O'Donovan, who was assistant to the recently deposed Eddie O'Sullivan at Test level as well as enjoying success with Munster, makes it clear he'd be keen to follow in the footsteps of fellow Irishman Willie Anderson, who was part of the Matt Williams' coaching team with Scotland.
He said: "It's fair to assume that my CV will have found its way to certain parts of England, Scotland, Wales, France and Italy.
"I consider myself to have enough experience to be considered for the top coaching jobs at a high level should they be available. I'm as good as, and as experienced as, anyone in the market. "
SRU Chief Executive Gordon McKie said last week that he was poised to meet with Hadden to discuss the type of back-up he required for the 2008-09 Test programme, while making it clear he wished to retain recent co-optees Andy Robinson and Sean Lineen at Edinburgh and Glasgow.
