NORTH BERWICK secured a superb home win over newly-relegated Duns on Saturday to top Scottish Hydro Electric East League Division One after the first round of matches.
The East Lothian men, who finished fourth in the division last season, won the match 37-3 to gain a bonus point, scoring some good tries in the process.

And club president Fraser Proctor is optimistic that the first team can do well this season as there are a number of talented local youngsters in the squad, captained by winger Cam Ewer.

"It was a great way to start the season and it should give the team confidence ahead of the upcoming matches," he said.

Elsewhere in Division One Penicuik beat Dalkeith 14-13 in the Midlothian derby and Portobello defeated Broughton 18-8.

Meggetland's first foray into the division ended in a 17-0 loss at Hawick Harlequins, while Dunbar lost 31-10 at Hallhill to Hawick Linden.

Inverleith are still unbeaten in Division Two after a 17-3 win at Liberton, while Leith got their first win since relegation with an emphatic 40-7 away victory over Edinburgh BATS.
