WATSONIANS moved a step closer to securing a second place finish in the Scottish Hydro Electric Premiership when they took all five league points despite Heriot's brave second half comeback.
The visitors appeared to be cruising to a comfortable
success, having run in four tries through Rohan Steyl (2), Josh Abraham and Ali Rowe, all converted by Scott Kennedy. In response, Heriot's had mustered only a penalty from Graham Wilson.
However, the complexion of the game changed within a few minutes of the restart when Werner Van Niekerk touched down and was followed in similar fashion by Pete Eccles and Murray Strang.
Watsonians coach Cammy Mather said "At half-time we looked as if we could go and score 50 or 60 points but we didn't, which is frustrating."
