THE countdown to next year's Commonwealth Games in Delhi has begun in earnest for Scotland's rugby sevens players.
A squad of current sevens internationals and future prospects will travel to Delhi tomorrow for a week-long intensive training camp one year out from the tournament.

"It's a statement of intent about how seriously we're taking sevens," said Scotland Sevens coach Stephen Gemmell.

The squad will be based at Delhi University, the venue of rugby sevens. They will train against members of the Indian national team, play local sides and receive specialist coaching focussed on personal and team development.

The only member of the 12-man squad not a full-time Scotland Sevens player, or contracted to the SRU's National Academy, is Selkirk winger Lee Jones, 21.
