GOLF enthusiasts will be able to get up close to one of the game's most famous trophies at Ingliston later this week.
The Ryder Cup will be on display at this year's Scottish Golf Show at the Royal Highland Centre on Friday.

Held every two years, the Ryder Cup sees Europe's top golfers go head to head with their US counterparts.

Scotland will host the event in 2014 and the prized golden trophy's appearance at the show has been arranged by EventScotland, providing an opportunity for golf fans to hear more about the national events agency's investment in the sport. The last time the contest was held, in 2006, Welshman Ian Woosnam led Europe to victory at The K Club in County Kildare. This year's event is in Kentucky in September.

Aye, very good, but how about a "two tickets to the Ryder Cup" type competition for attendees?
