STEPHEN Dobbie made the long journey back from Manchester devastated after watching Rangers suffer defeat at the hands of Zenit St Petersburg in the Uefa Cup final.
That disappointment may linger on but the forward, 25, will have no qualms about inflicting further pain on the club where he began his football career when the final silverware of the season is contested. Rangers face Queen of the South in the Scot
tish Cup at Hampden on Saturday and Dobbie insists there will be no danger of mis-placed loyalties.
"I would take the same result as the Uefa Cup final," he said. "Myself and some of the Rangers fans from the club went down to Manchester and just drove straight back up after the game – we were a bit gutted. But there will be no love lost on Saturday and I'll be going all out for the win.
If, come 4.45pm, we have the winners' medals around our necks, it doesn't matter who we played against."
The famous 4-3 win over Aberdeen in the last four is the reason why Gordon Chisholm's men head into the clash against Rangers with more belief than one would expect from a First Division club.
"It will give us a lot of confidence," Dobbie said. "Every time they scored, we scored another one.
It's a one-off game for us and we will go out for the win from the first whistle. St Johnstone ran them close and we beat Aberdeen so there is no reason why we can't beat Rangers."
