FIRST Division Livingston were bundled out of the Challenge Cup last night 2-1 at the hands of Ayr United.
John Robertson's side led with an early Steven Craig goal, but the Lions' Steven Hislop put the ball into his own net to bring the Second Division side level. Jerome Vareille then struck the winner in the 75th minute.

Elsewhere, Raith Rovers' disappointing start to the season continued at McDiarmid Park as the Kirkcaldy side suffered a 3-1 extra time defeat at the hands of First Division St Johnstone.

Rovers took the lead early on when French striker Armand One scored but Steven Milne brought Saints level midway through the first half.

Ryan Stevenson was red carded for the Perth side late in the game but St Johnstone's superior fitness showed and ex-Hearts defender Kevin James put them ahead before Milne netted a second.
