CHAIRMAN Craig Graham has vowed to repair Spartans FC's tarnished reputation following the ugly brawl that contributed to the resignation of their Junior side's management team.
Manager Mark Lamb and his No.2, Jimmy Rae, quit following Saturday's South Division clash with Livingston United which saw players and officials from both sides become involved in a nasty clash.
Lamb claimed in yesterday's Evening News that the i
ncident had been "the final straw" after becoming frustrated with events at the Ainslie Park club.
Today Graham said: "We were very disappointed about what happened on Saturday and have been very apologetic to Livingston United. The indiscipline is completely against what Spartans stand for – we have had a very good disciplinary record across all our teams over the years.
"There may be repercussions and, if there are, we will deal with them. It is too early to tell if the club's reputation has been tarnished but, if it has, we will work hard to repair that."
On Lamb claiming that the Junior side – playing in the East Region for the first time this season – had received little support from the Spartans club, Graham added: "I'm not going to get into a war of words but what happened on Saturday was totally unconnected with Mark leaving the club.
"He's a good lad and is still a mate of Spartans."
