ARBROATH have told Hearts they will reluctantly accept the lesser fee of £16,000 that they are due from Andy Webster's move to Wigan in summer 2006.
The Gayfield side, who had negotiated a 17.5 per cent sell on clause when they sold the Scotland defender to Hearts for £67,500 in 2001, had been holding out for £26,000.

2 Gorgie's Finest, If Arbroath don't have a leg to stand on, why is Romanov giving them anything at all? Or is he just giving away the money out of kindness?

Gorgies finest. Arbroath were not obliged to pay to get money out of Rangers/Wigan as it was a contract with Hearts that he broke/ended.

Your club is a shambles by the way.

Arbroath get their dosh, everybody happy then.
Apart from the rioters of course.
2 years paying Webster a conservative(guess on my part)5k a week wages works out
about 3/4 million smackeroonies doon the pan for a non playing player.
Not a very clever bit of business from the big team.

Let's hope that's the last we hear of this story. "The Gayfield side, who had negotiated a 17.5 per cent sell on clause" - there was no sell-on and the money Hearts fought for and got was compensation from a player for ducking out of his contract.

#23 Spot on.

Pundit - you're an eejit. In all the Rankers postings yesterday discussing possible team formations there was no mention whatsoever of Webster's name. He is now a non-event at Ibrox in the same way this is now a non-story.

End of chapter.

Is this what the Jambos are reduced to these days, crowing about screwing 10 grand out of a Second Division club?

You must be so proud...

#27 Was it a Jambo that wrote the article ?
Are you suggesting we don't comment on it ?

Why are you commenting on it ?

3 easy questions for you.

#25 GF
I think the one to blame is Webster himself.
There are easier ways of getting a transfer than the path he chose.
The rioters deserve to have shelled out so much dosh because of the underhand way in which the deal was done.
It hasn't stopped a repeat performance though (Velicka).
All in all and in hindsight with the injuries Webster has had and the alleged amount Vlad offered him to stay then its a good job he went.

#28 There will be an endless stream of them from now to the end of time. Like Muttley they all chase the medals and the money.
On the one hand you cant really blame them, we all want whats best for ourselves and our family, generally dirty moula pays for it, but as a career move it has to be questioned in terms of ambition.
I was never happy being a sub for a decent team, I needed to be on the park, if you love football at any level I cant understand anyone happy to be a sub or reserve but at the end of the day this is a job for these guys and they have to make hay while the sun shines.
25

Jambo-ree,

04/09/2008 10:23:39
#27 You can lay the blame for this firmly at the door of A.Webster Esq pal. Had he not decided to screw the system then Arbroath would have got a damn sight more than the £26k they said they wanted.
26

#28, You've missed my point.

#31, Perhaps, but the bragging about making Abroath back down on here this morning hardly paints Hearts or its supporters in a good light.

FOR THE LAST TIME VLAD COULD HAVE PAID ARBROATH NOTHING

Note the words "sell on clause" - HEARTS NEVER SOLD HIM.

Webster the gawk basically resigned - He bought out his own contract. The "compensation" he was ordered by UEFA to pay Hearts was the amount of money that he would have earned had he stayed. UEFA thought this would be "fitting".

Shame for Arbroath , but the money they could have got should morally come from the masonic bigots out west. They manufactuured the whole nefarious situation with dealings that would make many of us ashamed.

Personally I would have paid Arbroath sod all as "sell on" actually means selling something strangely enough.

If Rangers had paid the £2m plus that he WAS worth , Arbroath would have received at least £350,000 - And that is a whole lot of money to any club never mind a small club.
Arbroath MUST know they have been shafted AND BY WHOM , but the only way they can get any money at all is by playing their sob card. Vlad paid them this ex gratia payment to be decent (for once) - he did not have to - AT LEAST HE SHOWED SOME MORALS (this time) Rangers showed their dark side - AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please look into the actual goings on before posting - That's for any non-Jambo eejits on here.

Hoist by your own petard (look it up)
You state that Webster broke his contract - THEREFORE HE WAS NOT SOLD
THEREFORE HEARTS WERE DUE ARBROATH FVCK ALL MONEY AS THERE WAS NO SALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hence , the words "sell on" were deemed obsolete.

I'm at a loss to comprehend why the Rangers fans think they will get millions for Andy Webster, who has been loaned out to Bristol City and can't get a game for them either.

Do Rangers fans expect Bristol City to pay millions for a sub defender?

I would like FIFA to bring in a ruling where the PLAYER has to pay his agent a fee for a transfer. The player should also be responsible for paying any sell on fee when he goes down the route Webster took.

At least Boyd & Anderson gave their cash to Killie & Aberdeen for youth development when they left for bigger clubs. What has Webster done for Arbroath with his signing on fees from Wigan and Rangers?

Webster is a prat and deserves all the bad luck he has since. Nice to see Vlad give the wee maroons a bit of the scandelous amount we got in compensation for him beaking a contract. Although he didn't have too give them anything i would have given them eLiott instead

It seems every Hearts supporter on here is ready to blame Webster - obviously the whole saga is his fault.
But wait a minute.. why did he want to leave? Why was he so desperate to get away?
Can any of the maroon faithful enlighten me?

Obviously Rangers were at the back of it and Wigan were in on the scam - I suspect the Norgegian team were in cahoots with Rangers as well with the Vellicka deal (how long did he stay there?)
No doubt the impartial overseers at SFA and SPL will be conducting an enquiry into Rangers' actions in due course.

It pleases me to enlighten you.

Rangers had been after Webster for over a year and tried to entice him away BEFORE Burley and Vlad took the reigns. That same Summer Webster said to Burley that he could not go on tour to Ireland as he had had his head turned by Rangers and was in no mentally fit state to travel with Hearts. He wanted to be sold if and when Rangers put an offer in - RANGERS DID NOT PUT IN AN OFFER - they wanted to unsettle him so that the following year they would get him at cut price. Does that remind you of how they got Boyd from Killie ? or how Celtic got Deek the Geek ? (to name but two)

Owner of Wigan owns/owned JJB Sports - Remember the David Murray sell off of the Rangers owned JJB Sports to him ?
Business colleagues.

Your comment about Velicka and the Norwegians is naive to say the least - The head of the Norwegians is Egil Ogensdadt (spellin ?) EX RANGERS PLAYER and friend of - yes you have guessed it - David Murray.

We don't need Mulder and Scully quite yet as Rangers are pompous enough to hardly even bother to disguise matters due to the SFA not daring to do Fvck all.

Your welcome

#45 busby, absolutely old bean, absolutely.

perhaps in a society which has a truly free press we could expect such underhand operations to be exposed, however we don't have that here and that's why the likes of rangers are empowered to do what they damn well please, because they are hand-in-glove with the mainstream sports media who act as a 'scandal-shield' for them. the football authorities simply don't want to know.

this represents an iluminati network which runs scottish football for their own benefit.

Thanks LF , VoG , 1874

I'm just glad that as there are no more posts from some of the tumshies that come on here , it might mean that a few might now realise that Hearts were not to blame for this particular episode.
At least it diversified my frustration at the fever that the Scotsman publications are whipping up amongst the denizons of darkest Leith with reference to the return of Rat Boy.
It boils down to FFFHibs have signed a £250,000 player that has hardly played top flight football for two years and left them in the lurch for more cash when taking the huff a couple of years earlier. Grant Stott amongst many on radio , television and writing in papers is getting to me big style. I could see that smug , chubby face beeming as he played a number of tracks to welcome home "the prodigal son". Two that woke me up when my alarm went off a couple of times this week.
I could honestly understand it when George Best signed for them - but I cannot comprehend why there is this outpouring of euphoria over the sleekit little cvnt that is Ratboy.
This is the last throw of the dice by Petrie - Do not under-estimate the pressure that has been heaped on the bleach headed thug. Surely DR is not daft enough to continue going out socialising with his nutter pals as this is also HIS last throw.
Rant over - Might need to contact Jack Nicholson from the film Anger Management

No it's not over - I STILL DETEST THE PAROXIDE WRAITH.

Post #31 makes references to post #32? While posts #39 & # 40 refer to post number #44??? and post #44 was made by me 8 days after posts #'s 39 & 40 ???

...and that's not all, post # 39 makes reference to Mulder & Scully! I think there must be some kind of X-Files time and space dimension warp going on on this thread! If so could anyone tell me the Jambos result at Falkirk next Saturday?
