STEVE BANKS today hammered home his commitment to Hearts by insisting that he wants to end his career at Tynecastle.
The goalkeeper was brought to Tynecastle mainly as cover for Craig Gordon three years ago but has gone on to establish himself as the club's No.1 stopper.

Since Gordon's departure to Sunderland at the beginning of the season, Banks has successful
ly fought off challenges from Eduardas Kurskis and Anthony Basso for the gloves.

The former Gillingham and Bolton stopper was rumoured to be on the verge of a move to Rangers in January to join former Hearts keepers' coach Jim Stewart.

But instead he penned a two-and-a-half year extension to his current contract and was also appointed goalkeeping coach after working towards his badges.

Banks is a firm favourite with both the players and supporters at Hearts and the feeling is clearly mutual for the Englishman.

Stephen Frail has yet to find out where his future lies, Banks is keen to remain in Gorgie for the forseeable future.

He admitted: "I'd like to finish my career at Hearts. I feel physically fitter than I have done for a long time and metally I feel better than ever, which is a major thing for me as goalkeeping is about mental stability and how you approach games.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Hearts, I have made a lot of friends at the club and am quite settled where I'm living so I was quite happy to extend my stay.

"If I keep in shape physically then I don't see any reason why I can't play on for a while yet."

A new keeper is not a priority as Banks is still playing well. Last weekend - one save against Killie plus two in the testimonial were outstanding.
Bring back McDonald to work as his second string with a view to taking over.
Kurskis is away back to the Moscow State Circus and Basso is always waiting for his next balls up.

I'don't think he'll be the only one ending his career at Tynecastle!!
#4 Not sure in total but they were relegated twice in the seventies and failed to get straight back up on one of these times so I recon they spent three years out of the top flight in about a five or six year period, but of course they weren't such a BIG team then

#4 - Biley! How about answering my questions?

Here's what I wrote to you some time ago and which you've dodged replying to...

"Someone said the other day that you irritated lots of people. Your joyous reply to this was "it's testemonials (sic) like that that make this all SO, SO worthwhile".

How revealing. Now that's the real you: someone who enjoys provoking, patronising, and trying to hurt.

My questions, Biley, remain the same as ever. Just what do you get out of doing this? Why do you behave in this way?"

How about an answer this time, Biley..?

Sorry I missed all the excitement. What was 4's crime? As for 5, it should read "fewer" not "less". Where is "Pedantic Hibby" when you need him. Sorry again. My mistake. Oxymoron.

why did gers not use the squad, they buy players and let them stagnate, feared to split his formation very few good chances today maybe lack of sharpness, and one other point why does barry ferg not get dropped some of his passing and positioning is out of touch.

#17 No Biley, it's not "OK". You can't have it both ways.

Fair's fair. If you're going to persist with your self-appointed campaign to "irritate lots of people" AND you've admitted that you regard such behaviour on your part as "SO, SO worthwhile", then I think my questions are perfectly reasonable.

So, I repeat. Just what do you get out of doing this? Why do you behave in this way?"

Don't be shy, now...

#28 Your "privacy"? How hypocritical can you get?

If you wanted "privacy" you wouldn't infest these pages.

If you want "privacy", why don't you behave like an adult and not like a naughty child, desperate to gain some recognition?

And just like a delinquent child, you refuse to take responsibility for your behaviour. You hide behind risible nonsense like your "privacy".

That's dishonourable, Biley.

There probably is no reasoning with you because you are fundamentally an unreasonable, flawed, paranoid, character.

You seem to harbour some sense of persecution and/or injustice. Are these pages your way of fighting back? Is offering random and unwarranted personal abuse and provocation your "revenge", Biley..?

C'mon, Biley. Answer my questions...

Are you saying that, by writing on these threads, YOU have surrendered YOUR privacy then Muchacho?
If you have (and we know the answer to that don't we) then more fool you. Do we have a column whereby we list bank, mortgageemployment, marital status, children's details that I'v overlooked...Eh?
Clearly what's happening, and I'M not in the least upset about it (how about you, BH?) is that your frustration that someone has the sheer audacity to come onto a "so-called" Hearts thread and critisise many aspects of Jambo fairyland, that you can't stand it....whichn does provide a certain appreciation that our efforts aren't wasted back at the mother ship.
That's showbusiness Muchacho, Eh?

#33 "Are you saying that, by writing on these threads, YOU have surrendered YOUR privacy then Muchacho?"

Your superior intellect triumphs again, Biley. Please explain the tortuous cerebral gymnastics that brought you to this conclusion based on what I've said.

Oh but I forgot! YOU don't read and interpret what others write, do you?

You say my comments are borne out of "frustration that someone has the sheer audacity to come onto a "so-called" Hearts thread and critisise many aspects of Jambo fairyland, that you can't stand it..."

Really? I've said to you before I have no problem with constructive criticism of Hearts. I'm minded to challenge opinions masquerading as facts and blatant ill-will, however.

But you just ignored that earlier comment because it doesn't suit your purpose to acknowledge it.

You certainly don't come into the "constructive criticism" category Mu Cha-Cha. You are a self-confessed nark with a nasty streak.

So nasty in fact, that you don't have the INTEGRITY to answer my questions or to address issues because you know this will present you in an even more unfavourable light.

But you can redeem yourself, Biley. Just answer my questions...
