THE first Edinburgh derby of the season was much anticipated, with Hibs looking to stretch their lead over the capital's wee team to 14 points. But, in the end, a rather drab game with few chances kept the gap at 11.
Hearts huffed and puffed and used their physical attributes to the full, with a serious of long throws and corners which Hibs dealt with comfortably. Only when Hibs finally decided to attack did we create space and chances, and Wotherspoon's deflected shot might have secured a victory.
But few fans can complain about a very healthy return from the opening quarter of fixtures. John Hughes and his team get a 'well done' so far and now the test is to repeat this for the next quarter and really keep those wee team cloggers down in the bottom half.
