HEARTS boss Csaba Laszlo insisted today that his side must prove that they are not a one-hit wonder by building on their Co-operative Insurance Cup victory over Celtic.

• Csaba Laszlo (pictured left) and Celtic counterpart Tony Mowbray watch Wednesday's CIS Cup match

Laszlo wants his side to
use the win at Parkhead as a tool to boost confidence levels – and also a springboard from which to relaunch their league campaign.

The Tynecastle outfit sit in ninth position in the league table but Laszlo believes his side will be on a high after knocking the holders out of the cup on Wednesday night.

He wants them to prove to their supporters and critics alike that they can produce performances of a consistently high level throughout the course of the rest of the season, in both the league and cup competitions.

He said: "I don't think that we have had so many bad performances this season but the luck was just not there.

"To win at Celtic Park was fantastic but I have told the players that we have achieved only one victory.

"Yes, it is a good win, a very good win, but now we must take confidence and build on this.

"A good team can win individual games or rise to one-off special occasions but a top team is one that can keep a high level of consistency. The players understand what is required of them and with continued concentrations and hard work they can show the true ability that they possess.

"Football is about the head as much as it is the feet."

Meanwhile, Laszlo is hopeful Andrew Driver will be fit for tomorrow's trip to Motherwell after the winger took a heavy knock at Celtic Park. Driver was scythed down by Stephen McManus as time ticked away on Wednesday, the Celtic defender eventually being shown a red card by referee Craig Thomson. However, Laszlo does not expect too many problems for his player, adding: "I think Andy will be okay. He worked with the physios and the doctors after the match and we will see what happens but I hope he will be fit for the game against Motherwell."

Fears also emerged today that midfielder Suso, who missed the Celtic win, is facing hernia surgery. The Spaniard, though, is believed to be in the frame for tomorrow's match.

I'm more confident about getting a result against Hibs than Motherwell. We just don't seem to be up for the Category B games.
And as for Mikey Stuart going from Villian to Hero, I don't think so Colleen. I'll get behind him on Saturday but he's got a long way to go to win the Hearts fans over.
And I think it's worth pointing out, it's not just a minority of Hearts fans that feel like this.
B-)

Would have had a chance but the right hand side was far too week to go all the way.

Remember the strikers we had - Pospisil, Janny, Bednar, Elliot (when he tried) - Would love to see any of them in a Hearts shirt now.

We need a mid field playmaker and the man to fit that role is Black but rarely gets a start. Yet certain players are picked week in and week out regardless if they play well or not.

After Laszlo comment this morning in the Scotsman if the team do not pull up there socks and play and start to win I think he will be walking away and I do not blame him .part of the problem is Vlad and the other part the players there is no passion to the game for them they do not look like they are playing for the club but only for the wages ,okay we beat Celtic that was a one off and I was not convinced with the peanlty he scored either, it just went in and no more Stewart is not a plenaly taker for me its not the fisrt time he has missed before I am not even certain he should be Captain after last Saturdays preformance he is not mature enough for the job,if we do not win our next to games there is no way wewill finsh itnthe top 6 this season

#10 "just think what that team could have done" etc

the point is, you couldn't afford to have that team.

don't know if you still don't see it, but you couldn't actually afford it then, and you certainly can't afford it now.

it was an unaffordable pipe dream, and your current 9th position in 2009 is the direct consequence of HAVING that team in the first place.

penny dropped?

I think we could all put out a team of past players that would have our clubs up there in the big battle.
No harm in dreaming but equally no point in wishing for the past.

Agreed - Hibs would also have been able to challenge. Very dodgy defence however...including the keeper

What Palermo says is absolutely bang on about not affording it then and defo not affording it now.

Time to get the debt down, this will obv have an effect on the quality.
