CSABA LASZLO hopes Hearts midfielder Bruno Aguiar will rejoin first-team training this week as his injury nightmare begins to subside after a 17-month absence.
The Portuguese is running freely and on the verge of returning to full capacity, which his manager expects to happen within a matter of days. He has not appeared at first-team level since April 2007 due to a horrific training-ground tackle from former team-mate Julien Brellier. That left Aguiar nursing a serious ankle injury before a knee ligament problem surfaced during pre-season to further delay his comeback.
Laszlo told the Evening News that Aguiar's rehabilitation is now almost complete and it may only be a matter of weeks before he is back in the side.
The manager said: "I hope he will train with the team this week. I have spoken with him and until now he has been running and looking better. Every day his injury looks better and better so I am hopeful about him. I know he is an important player and a big player for the supporters so, when he is ready, he can help the team."
Hearts currently have several players out of the country on international duty with their respective national teams, most notably the Lithuanian triumvirate of Saulius Mikoliunas, Deividas Cesnauskis and Audrius Ksanavicius, who contributed to a stunning 3-0 victory over Romania in Cluj on Saturday.
Mikoliunas scored one of the goals in the World Cup qualifier, sandwiched in between strikes from Marius Stankevicius and Mindaugas Kalonas.
Michael Stewart and Christophe Berra were not involved in Scotland's defeat by Macedonia in Skopje, but Larry Kingston played as Ghana fell to a late goal against Libya in the African zone of World Cup qualifying.
Eggert Jonsson travelled to Austria with Iceland's under-21 side, who lost 1-0 in a European Championship qualifying game. David Obua scored for Uganda in former Hibs boss Bobby Williamson's first game in charge - a 3-1 defeat by Niger.
