Laszlo beefs up Hearts attack by signing Tullberg on loan

Published Date: 12 August 2008
HEARTS manager Csaba Laszlo has completed his second summer signing with the capture of striker Mike Tullberg on a season-long loan from Italian outfit Reggina.
The tall Danish forward has done enough to prove to Laszlo he is worth a deal at Tynecastle even though his trial during the recent pre-season trip to Germany was cut short because of a thigh strain.

The 22-year-old, however, has now passed the relevant medical tests, having flown into Edinburgh last week, and could make his debut against Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday.

Tullberg, who cost the Serie A outfit £800,000 when he joined from AGF Aarhus in his homeland last summer, watched Hearts beat Motherwell 3-2 in their opening league game on Saturday.

And he admits he can't wait to sample the electric Tynecastle atmosphere.

He said: "I am very happy to be here. I think Scottish football will suit my style. I was at the game on Saturday and had goose-bumps when the players came out because the atmosphere was so fantastic."

Laszlo, who has already signed Ugandan utility player David Obua, said: "We only want to bring quality and I believe Mike is a guy who can help us.

"I think his style, which is very powerful, will suit Scottish football."

Meanwhile, Hearts are considering re-negotiating the terms agreed with the council for land they require for the £51 million redevelopment of a new main stand.

Club officials are debating whether to return to the City of Edinburgh Council with reduced offers given the current UK-wide slump in real estate.

At the start of last year, Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov agreed an £1.8 million deal to buy land occupied by a nursery and adult learning centre.

The Russian-born banker – for phase two of the redevelopment – then also negotiated a £4.1 million agreement for the Tynecastle High School site.

Hearts are still waiting on an answer from the council over planning permission despite submitting the proposals for the new 12,000-seater stand back in January.

However, with the council not expected to make a decision until autumn at the earliest and no money having changed hands, Hearts' power-brokers are now weighing up whether to lodge a reduced offer for the land. Independent assessors Cushman and Wakefield said in a report in February last year that the combined £5.9 million fee offered by Romanov "represents excellent value to the council".

Since that assessment, the price of land throughout Britain has been in decline.

Tullberg should get a game on Saturday with Driver and Stewart setting him up he will score against a very under presure Rangers team .Hopefully the team are working on defence this week as the goals we lost v motherwell need not have happened.Think Nade might get a game.

Not sure if he will be fully fit for the game.

On another note its good to see Murray is asset stripping at ipox bye bye Cuellar and due to ole backstabber smith being a joke of a manager he has not only cost rankers any euro cash for this season BUT the best player for last season has dumped them to play for a mid table EPL side. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.

Scotlands shame

Flats to be built in govan
they will be lucky to finish in the top 6 this year

Laszlo has proved so far to be a very competent manager, guess this is the first real test(Excluding Obua as he already worked with him)to see how good he is in the transfer market. If he gets this right and the guy is right for Hearts, as Laszlo says he will only bring in quality, we could be in for a decent season. Romp third spot and either cup will do me.

Quote from Smith:

'Rangers manager Walter Smith insists that he will use the fee to strengthen his squad. "This has come as a surprise and I am disappointed," said Smith. "Carlos Cuellar has been a great player for the club and inevitably there has been speculation about him playing in the Premiership.

"The club has received a substantial uplift in fee and we will now reinvest in the team."

HA HA HA HA HA

Smith knew nothing of the transfer as Murray sold him without consulting. Smith will get nothing. Cuellar is just the start of a fire sale. Murray needs to recoup the £100m debt and he knows it, otherwise he is stuck with Rankgers for ever.

Definately major problems down Govan way, and im not just talking about the dilapidated tennements either. Rangers are going backwards very fast. Of course there will be those with their heads in the sand, or those that will never admit to it, but looking on other forums there are quite a lot of unhappy and very worried bears.

Murray is Asset stripping the team. It is clear as daylight if Rangers had still been in the CL Cuellar would have stayed. Ok he is moving to a higher profile league for the exposure only, which he would have got in the CL, Aston Villa are a mid table EPL side as already pointed out the chances of them getting into the CL is very very slim, UEFA cup football at best.

Rangers exit at the hands of Hearts Reserve team has cost them 12million, thats not even counting the gate money. When your sitting 100million in debt and have just spent another 9million+ you have to recoup that from somewhere. Murray has been trying desperately for a few years to sell Rangers this is not a secret, but with a debt so high and a credit crunch on no-one in their right mind is going to touch them. Murray himself has seemingly been taking big hits in the world of finance, he isn't going to bankrupt himself or spend his own money he has worked a lifetime for to bail out his second choice club.

Was interesting to read last week, somewhere that the Ausie chap I think thats where he is from, that loaned Rangers some 40milllion, has recalled this and that Rangers did not recieve the Hutton fee it went straight to him, could this be where the Cuellar fee will be going as well? could this be another reason he was sold?

Johnny Jambo,

Seems to me that all of those who think that Vladimir Romanov is the only Club Boss who runs the team have got it wrong. I think David Murray had told Wattie who to play and who not to play in the CL because there were certain players who will be out of Ibrox soon. I also think the plan was to get through the qualifiers on an understregth team then decide who would leave. But it backfired.

Gorgie's Finest,

About the game on Saturday, With Cuellar gone what we need to be doing IMO is playing balls forward into the open spaces to allow our fast nippy players to run onto. I would play Miko from the start, I think he will have the beating of Whittaker and having watched Rangers new defender (Bougherre I think thats how its spelt) playing he isnt the quickest either Driver will skin him. Through balls into space or balls over the top Dailly and Weir??? we have players that can give these two a 20 yard start and still beat them to 30 yards. If we go and attack and pressurise that very shaky Rangers defense we culd have the beating of them.

Tullberg is seemingly recovered from Injury, his match fitness may be a little down, but according to the Hearts site his aim is to immediately try and win a place in the team. I have a funny feeling Nade may play saturday, then make way for Tullberg in the second half or vice versa, and possibly play just off Mole. Same formation as last week 4-4-1-1.

Seems like it's only fair some pressure is put on the council with regards to the planning application. They are taking an unreasonable amount of time on this. When the planning application was first submitted an expected date of announcement (BY the council) was put as 6th August. Now they are saying Autumn. For me then it is fair for Hearts/Vlad to go to the council and tell them, look if this isnt settled soon then we want to re-negotiate the deal. It is probably all politics and mind games into forcing the council to move their backsides. I do think they are dragging this out a bit though.

I'm awake GF!!

Rangers in turmoil
Rangers in crisis

Are the above any headlines we expect to see in the papers....not on your nelly, its the glorious Rangers - If it were Hearts of course?

A chairman selling a player over the managers head - I thought it was just at Hearts this happened?

How long until we get the headlines in the paper regarding Rangers coming in to buy our best players....well, we are due to play them on Saturday and it always happens.....I expect Berra and Larry may be the ones mentioned.

Rangers are there for the taking on Saturday and we must not be too defensive....if fact look at Falkirks approach, attack attack attack - thats what we need to do.

Apart from that, all is pretty good these days as a jambo!!

#15 Nah, this is what happens when we become a 'normal' football club! Too many others (Hobos and Bears) off licking their own wounds helps as does Biley goeing hors de combat.

Re your #14, stand by for posters whose aunty twice removed knows the tea lady in the City Chambers who's heard it's all Hearts fault for the delays because....well make it up for yourself (they will). Having said that I'm not sure the planning permission for phase 1 was in any way linked to land purchase for further phases so don't see how that can be used as leverage.

From what I remember, this story come out via a quote from Leslie Deans who said it is what hearts COULD do. There are no attributable quotes in the article so I'm taking with a pinch of salt.

Whatever, it IS taking a long time though.

Cue Hobonomics......

Morning GF.
Funny how pundiddy and biley have gone on their hollibobs together.Pure coincidence of course.

Everything Csaba has done so far has been beyond my wildest expectations so i have no reason to doubt that he can spot a decent player in Tullberg.

I am pretty sure most people on these threads where saying that it was Vlad that was stalling the new stadium build.
Strange now that little snippets of information are suggesting its the council that are taking their time.More coincidence i suppose.

New keeper on his way

Janos Bálogh, 25 year old Hungarian International, plays for Debrecen

http://www.dvsc.hu/Lapok/hirek_hud.aspx?ID=1026&source=/lapok/Default_hu.aspx

Translated to English it means

"DVSC-TEVA board announced yesterday that János Balogh had travelled to Scotland Premier Division outfit Hearts. The decision regarding his six months loan will be made in the next few days."

"Heart Of Midlothian is one of the oldest ever clubs that presently play in its nation’s top division. The club was founded in 1874 and has won the Scottish league on four occasion while they also managed to lift the Scottish Cup seven times."

"The team has been taken over by Csaba László this summer, former manager of Ferencváros and the Hungarian national team."

Could be an interesting one at the weekend. Must admit, if Tullberg is fit enough I'd be tempted to chuck him straight into the team - a striker they don't know against a new CB partnership could be very interesting. Either way, we should be prepared to have a good go at them - they look distinctly beatable these days, and you have to take advantage of those times...

Rankin and the big eejit up front were signed by FFFHibs in between Pantyliner and Joan Collins' tenures.

Webster and many others (Bazil Bole anyone) were signed either over three managers regimes in Websters case , or directly by Murray.

Strachan did not want Graveson .

Owners/chairmen/boards sign and sell many players behind managers backs - we should not be surprised that Watty looks like a chump with Mr. "handsome" being sold.
It happens at most clubs - It's just that when it's Vlad , the papers use Hearts as target practise.

Will the West coast media highlight Smith not knowing what was going on ? NO CHANCE - Will the Scotsman ?
Should the Scotsman ?

The ladies in Birmingham better watch out - When Cuellar unleashes that sparkling smile he will have them dropping like flies at his feet .Using the word "handsome" just does not do the Spaniard justice.

"PLUG" DOES.

Daily Rioter
"CELTIC star Darren O'Dea was taken away in handcuffs after a late-night street brawl.
O'Dea and teammates Aiden McGeady and Scott Brown were abused by drunken thugs hours after the club's first SPL match of the season at Parkhead on Sunday.
Brown was punched in the face while O'Dea was arrested and spent three hours in police custody for his role in the scrap.
The incident came just months after McGeady clashed with Rangers fans outside the same nightclub.
The latest trouble started after yobs targeted the three on a night out at trendy nightclub Bamboo in Glasgow city centre.
Trouble flared outside in the early hours of Monday after Ireland international winger McGeady, 22, was attacked.
Irish defender O'Dea, 21, was arrested and fined for breach of the peace before being released later.
A number of other Celtic players had been celebrating a win over St Mirren in the West Regent Street club before the fight, which saw Scotland midfielder Brown, 23, punched in the face.
A witness said: "There was a bit of bother brewing for most of the night.
"The players were having a drink, signing autographs and posing for pictures, and seemed to be having fun.
"A few guys were winding them up but as the night went on it started getting nasty.
"Guys were giving the players real pelters and abusing them.
"There was a bit of a confrtontation and it looked like Brown was punched before the bouncers got involved.
"The players started to leave but as McGeady got outside he was jumped by a gang who set about him.
"O'Dea then became involved and the police turned up.
"The place was crawling with cops and they were taking statements off everyone."
Another eyewitness said most of the trouble kicked off outside the club.
He said: "McGeady, Brown and O'Dea were at the doorway, presumably waiting for taxis.
"Brown looked pretty wrecked and instead of waiting for a couple of minutes until things calmed down, he climbed over the railings, and walked into the s

"McGeady was standing at the door looking like he was about to burst into tears."
The Celtic players had been at a beach party at Bamboo.
It featured clubbers in bikinis, Hawaiian shorts and flower garlands.

It's been pasted directly from the Daily Rioter - hence the first line headed "Daily Rioter" .
I take it was to give us a bit of amusement on a slow news day. Especially the Scott Brown bit. (to be fair to the guy - unlike days of old on the football pitch , the poor bu66er seems to have been trying to avoid trouble)
It concerned football players - and some items worth reading don't have to be about Hearts or FFFHibs.
