IF THE avoidance of embarrassment was a more realistic objective than the prevention of defeat, George Burley and his players could certainly be said to have succeeded in what proved to be something of an enigmatic friendly against the eagerly-awaited Argentina.
The applause that greeted the victory which gave Diego Maradona a successful start to his international managerial career was certainly directed at both sides, the Scots having retrieved undeniable respectability after losing the only goal to Maxi Rodriguez so early in the match. Indeed, that opening onslaught from the visitors lent even more credibility to the subsequent performance of the Scots.

Click here for a minute-by-minute account of the match

The datum that Argentina had enjoyed 73 per cent of possession to the Scots' 27 per cent in the first ten minutes of the match was a statistic that told no lie. Instead, the figure was an entirely true illustration of the visitors' superiority, which they themselves substantiated with the goal that gave them their early lead.

Burley's players had already experienced the kind of alarm the visitors were capable of spreading before Maxi scored, but no amount of forewarning could have forearmed them for the slickness and deadliness of the strike.

That first scare had come from the Argentina captain, Javier Mascherano, when he received a flick from Maxi some 22 yards from goal and, with a ferocious right-foot drive, brought a good save from Allan McGregor. It was a moment which, coupled with what followed a few minutes later, might have caused the Rangers goalkeeper to wonder if Craig Gordon's unavailability could any longer be regarded as a stroke of good fortune.

It was Carlos Tevez who started the quicksilver move which brought the goal, the Manchester United forward carrying the ball in from the right before slipping it to Jonas Gutierrez. The Newcastle midfielder played the through pass to Maxi so quickly and accurately that the Atletico Madrid man had no need to worry about a challenge, the home defenders having been simply by-passed. He finished with a low shot past McGregor from just seven yards.

It is an extremely rare match that does not yield one or two opportunities to even the most harassed of teams, but, sitting anxiously in the dug-out, Burley could not have imagined that the dark blue shirts would demonstrate the old truism so soon after falling behind.

The first of the Scots' threats began with Barry Ferguson's pass to Kirk Broadfoot on the left, the full-back relaying the ball to Kris Commons. The Derby County midfielder's low centre found James McFadden and, with a quick turn, he was suddenly in space and pulling back his often explosive left foot. He made the drive, but Martin Demichelis showed exceptional quickness to deflect the ball over the bar with his left foot.

With the Argentine goalkeeper, Juan Pablo Carrizo, having already exhibited uncertainty with crosses, it was almost no surprise that Paul Hartley's corner kick from the left should cause disorder that almost brought the equaliser. Broadfoot glanced the ball deeper into the goalmouth and Stephen McManus' subsequent header might have counted had the ball not cannoned off the back of Gabriel Heinze and over the crossbar. And, before the first half was out, Demichelis would make a mistake from which McFadden would have profited had he been more accurate and more powerful in the finish.

Chris Iwelumo's flicked header was in the control of the Bayern Munich full-back, but, in trying to dribble his way out, he simply turned the ball into the harrying McFadden.

The Birmingham City striker turned away from Demichelis to line up the shot, but, with only Carrizo to beat, he struck the ball weakly straight into the arms of the goalkeeper. It provided an ending to the first half that nobody could have predicted after those opening ten minutes.

Burley's personnel problems – seven of his original squad rendered unavailable by injury before the match – clearly extended to both his recognised left-backs, with Gary Naysmith and Jamie McAllister on the bench, neither having played for his club for a month.

That was one aspect of the casualty list that seemed not to concern the Scotland manager, as he appeared more intent on drafting forward players in the search for an equaliser. Lee Miller replaced Iwelumo at the start of the second half and he was soon followed by the debutant, Scott Robertson, and Shaun Maloney, for the tiring Ferguson and Hartley.

The home players, as usual, could not be accused of a lack of energy and commitment, but their best chance of achieving their objective seemed for most of the time to reside in the unsafe hands of Carrizo. The Lazio goalkeeper gave another example of his unreliability from a corner kick that, with a kinder bounce of the ball, would have brought the Scots level.

The set piece had been won by Miller, who had received a through pass from Caldwell and hit the shot quickly, but had it deflected wide by Demichelis. From Maloney's delivery on the left, Carrizo once again showed a dreadful sense of timing, coming nowhere near the cross as the ball was met by Miller and skewed wide of the goalkeeper's right-hand post. Having appeared likely to be overwhelmed in the opening stages, Burley's side could legitimately claim a fair measure of credit for their subsequent resistance.

The outing will surely have little relevance to the World Cup qualifiers against Holland and Iceland in the spring, except to confirm in the manager's mind what he already knew – that, if his players' skill matched their spirit, the trip to South Africa could be booked and paid for this morning.

I didn't see the game as it wasn't televised, but a 0-1 defeat to Argentina is hardly the end of the world.

It was not, as this reporter would like you to believe, a good Scottish performance.

Shaky, at best.

Holland might not be as generous as Argentina were.

Burley- if you don't play a goal scorer, the best result we can hope for in any game is 0-0

Looked like we were going to get a hammering early on but thankfully we worked our way back into the game. There's no doubt we lack class of the sort Argentina showed even without Messi and Riquelme. It will be a challenge for Burley to organise and motivate the solid players we do have. The return of Barry Ferguson, looking a bit like his old excellent self, is most welcome. We should all hope that he is back to his best by the time the serious business comes around.

Another Saturday Night,

McGregor did enough to show that he is no 1. choice keeper.

Broadfoot- very comfortable at pace

Ferguson- Outstanding

Hartley- One decent corner kick

Cruncher Caldwell- booked in a friendly....

McFadden- missed Miller as the goal provider

McManus- needs to open his eyes when he goes for the ball

The others didn't do anything worth mentioning.

Boruc's antics will enrage his manager, who has already hit him with the massive fine this season.

An insider told the Record: "As soon as Boruc got off the plane, he was out on the bevvy when he should have been resting up.

"Strachan gave him special leave to go home and rest so he'll be fit for the Cjampions League tie against Aalborg.

"He's not going to be a happy man. There's only so much he can take."

You wouldn't find Rangers players behaving in this way. WGS is finding his team falling apart. Of course, much of the blame has to fall on him. I would say Celtic will start to drop points this weekend.

The previous posters who opened up the predictable OF can of worms did so from their - and your - typically parochial viewpoint (our players are better than yours blah blah ...). You just can't hack it when it comes to pulling together for Scotland.

15

Just an opinion,

USA 20/11/2008 04:00:56
Saw the game with South American commentary, but had to admire our boys doing such a great job considering the call-offs.
As for paying peanuts and getting monkeys, Burley has proved at Ipswich, Hearts ( yeah, before that Lithuanian dipstick screwed it all up ) and Southampton ( where an Old Etonian stood in for the Lithuanian ) that he has a football brain.
Scotland simply does not have a Baxter, a Law, etc. etc. and I find it astonishing how many of the guys who write in do not realise we are no longer a football force to be reckoned with.
Even playing for Rangers or Celtic nowadays - if you are a Scot - no longer means you are a first class player such as when the two Old Firm Clubs won their European trophies.
I guess I am giving my age away, but for those of you ready to reinforce that, I was at Wembley when we beat the World Champions, and these Scots, plus another eleven easy, were as good as any players anywhere.
To-day, our kids, they play video games or such like - I rest my case!!!
16

Harlem Tam,

#10 BTO - So Boruc went out for a pint and was chatted up by some bint. Big deal. The Record has had it in for Boruc for some time. Here's news for you smd the Record - Strachan won't bite. Boruc is going nowhere.

And you have been predicting "Celtic will begin to drop points this weekend" for the last 10 weekends. I suppose when you get it right eventually, you'll say "Told you do."

Far from the Celtic team falling apart, have you read the paper today? McGeady is fit again and ready for Saturday and all the other injuries are coming back too. The time for Celtic to fall apart was when they had all the injuries. It didn't happen, but instead, Rangers dropped 7 points to Celtic's ZERO.

You're a trier though BTO. I'll give you that.

Why, when they played the ball back to the keeper, did he just punt it up the field and give away possession?
In all other countries in the world, the keeper will play it out to the full backs or centre halves who have gone wide to receive the ball. Not here, punt it up the park and give it away. Apart from that I thought Commons showed the most promise. A decent performance from him. Lets hope its not just a one off. Nothing much else to shout about.

Give me someone playing in the best league in the world, with a manager who was one of the best players in the world, and against the best strikers in the world week in week out rather than a goalie who recently lost his place in a poor league, playing against poor strikers.

Funny #10 - how the outstanding players in your are eyes are the 3 Rangers players, but of in course in your other disguise as Bring It On you used to spout the same drivel, MacGregor did ok but can easily be put under pressure as he was with a passback that he had to kick the way he was facing.
Broadfoot had to keep turning inside bescause he can't kick with his left foot so is therefore easy to defend against, did Ferguson cross the halfway line.
The 2 centre backs were shown up for pace and ability, Brown & Hartley didn't do anything, best player in a blue jersey was Commons who attacked his opposite number abd looked to get the ball in the box.
We are dereft of ideas and resorted to lumping the ball up the park in the hope that Iwelumo might get his head on it.
No creativity from the midfield so how was Ferguson outstanding.

Morning all...Shame that our best player was one who plies his trade in the Championship.Ferguson was back and,no agenda here, didnt stand out in any way.Benefit of the doubt for him due to long lay off.

Question..Why is it that we only get going once we are a goal behind?Chased shadows for 20 minutes and only after the goal worked hard to get into the game.

On the Argies though...Some lovely touches and the range of passing was a joy to behold at times...

A fairly poor show from a scratch team deprived of most of its attacking threat, but still restricting one of the world's best sides to a single-goal victory. It's impossible to judge what's going to happen in Amsterdam from last night's events, especially as it's over a decade since Scotland won a friendly at home.

Hilariously blinkered comments from Scotland-hating Rangers fans are probably best ignored.

#45 Have you not heard about the SPL managers think tank then? Basically the OF want the rule about two U21 players on the bench to be scrapped.

Is this because the OF youth policy being what it is that they are struggling to find two U21 players that they have brought thru the ranks rather than bought from another SPL club?

It's probably one of the worst Scotland teams since the Berti Volgts era.

We are again in World Football freefall all due to the fact that the SFA are useless. We always seem to go for managers that are unemployed. Burleys 2 predecessors were no better, they just got lucky with some results.

We also have to clamp down on OF call offs. There are always several every time theres a Scotland game. And the OF players that do play are substandard. Ferguson, McManus, Broadfoot and McGregor to name a few.

Also the two players that were drafted in were aweful. Robertson and Miller are no international quality players by a long way.
52

Andy Zoff,

Catterick Garrison 20/11/2008 10:55:24
Have to say we look technically very limited both in terms of first touch and vision / imagination. Would love to agree with the poster who suggested getting a younger team together but having watched some of the U 21 match against NI the other night I can only say I saw the same flaws there.

All too often we passed to opposition players in midfield ( I include MacGregor's awful kicking in this too). Just can't do that against international opposition. Fortunately the Argentinians slowed down after they scored because it looked like being real hammering!
53

Will1875,

Spend money and get a decent manager. Not someone who was just available. Someone to motivate.

These managers Scotland employ were on the "Dole" for a reason.

Yes they were "rubbish". I'm sure Burley is using it as a stepping stone like McLeish and Smith but who would want him ??????
54

The only Scotland player who stood out last night was Scot Brown ...there wasn't much to distinguish any of the others. The camel was the only one who looked out of his depth but he was played on the left...at times he looked as though he'd only learned to play football in the car park ten minutes before kick off.

Ferguson started brightly, but quickly fizzled out which no doubt will be attributed to his returning from injury (that excuse will be used by the laptops until he plays a decent 90 minutes, and it doesn't matter if we're still waiting 'till February).

I'm frankly disappointed, though not surprised, with the comments so far on this thread.

To clarify, i support hearts, but was at the game last night to follow my country in a very entertaining game.

Player highlights for me (Scotland) were :

Ferguson - never been a fan, but went up in my estimations last night. He clearly has the footballing vision that so many lack.

Iwelumo - looked far superior to either clarkson or miller, we could reap rewards with a striker feeding off his knock downs and lay-offs, a good target man IMO.

Brown - gave all that you would expect from him, good pressing and a nice touch once on the ball, 1st touch could be sharper though.

Hutton - nothing between him and ferguson for best player in blue, he has benefitted from his exposure to the premiership.

The Argentinians clearly operate at a higher base skill level and have the close control that makes their play look effortless at times, even 'burly' defenders are very comfortable on the ball and happy to play it around their own box at times.

I was happy to part with £30 to watch this match and only wish that more had followed suit, even if just to sing the hokey cokey maradonna song.

Class On Grass,

Players have to be 2-footed at this level, even goalies.
The Argies knew the weakest spot was left back, targeted it and scored.
The Argie passing was zig-zag, forward and pack, not sideways, and far quicker than we could achieve,
making them so much more incisive.

This was a good game for our players (and Mr Burley), who will now see that they are not as fit as is required, and that more pushing-on, dropping off (back and forwards, boys) is required.
Best Scot for me was Commons, and well done Faddy for causing problems, nearly scoring.
Hutton also deserves a mention for demonstrating how backs should play.
The central pair were more solid - playing for the same club helps here (remember Miller & MacLeish)

What have we got?
Defensively, once we can fill the left back position (Naysmith??) we will be solid at the back.
Gordon is world class, best ever. Look at the envious glare from Percy, and the sudden lack of Goalkeeping jokes.
Good service and connected better with the midfield last night.

Midfield - Not at its best last night. BF was like a wee poodle sucking up to Tevez. He needs to get stuck in, or he'll be left out.
Otherwise, great potential there, in Robson, Brown, Fletcher (as per Ferguson) Hartley (Holding) and now Commons,
though we need a player get down the right a bit more, not rely on Hutton to get forward.
Service to the front line needs to improve ( I cant recall one decent cross from the right).

Forwards- Faddy a shoe in
Iwelumo could be the partner, K.Miller to come off
the bench. (or Novo, just to wind up the chinless
hordes from the South)

The subs didnt really do enough to impress last night.
The manager is more tactically astute than previous incumbents; he could be the man to break us out of the
negative defensive game we adopted to get over Bertie's disastrous time..
TB needs to concentrate on Scotland, though grudges can be held and nursed, fair enough, if it gives the team a bit

Faddy still carried the main goal threat, Boyd doesnt want to play for Scotland, tho I would have liked him to stay, given the lack of goal threat we carry. You cant have 2 lazy players in a team anyway.

#79, or what about Mel Gibson. Was the Titanic's captain Scottish? He heroically stayed at the helm.
Actually you do have a point in that I wouldnt mind McCoist as assistant instead of Butcher, but then again we should respect GB's wishes, and TB proves his worth. Did Diego get his man?

Strachan said in press conference the other week that if you added 4 or 5 inches onto the height of maloney and mcgeady, they become £30M players, and I think that's fair comment.

Height and strength allied to technical ability combine to give you the 'super players' of the modern game of which ronaldo is the prime example.

His athleticism is of a tall order so much so that if he couldn't kick a ball you could see him being an olympic gold medalist in one of the track sports.

A relative of mine was at CP for the 1V1 match and spoke afterwards about the blistering pace of ronaldo, his strength on the ball....and he has trickery in abundance to add to that.

Three of scotland's shame are reported to have attacked aiden mcgeady in a night club last night reportedly leaving his face "covered in blood".

At least the sun isn't reporting it as flippantly as they reported thz attack on neil lennon in August : "two grandads".

As we know , there are now two men in their 40s awaiting trial for that sectarian attack which left Lennon unconscious as they attacked him from behind by striking him on the head with an object.

I remember playing centre half for the school team when I was about 15.

Their goalie had launched a high kick out and I ran towards where the ball was going to land and stuck a foot out hoping to push the ball wide.

Unbelievably, I trapped the ball stone dead right beneath my foot. I was so taken aback that I just passed the ball back to my own goalie ....much to the exasperation of the team manager.

I still think Gazza was one of the most complete footballers I have seen. Had he been able to stay away from serious injuries and had the extra brain cells to leave the bevy and other indulgences he is reported to have dabbled in alone, we would today be talking about him as having been one of the worlds best ever. Just my opinion.

Maloney is off the boil at the moment, but he'll get back to form. He's been in the game long enough to know how to handle it when things just aren't coming off.

He should just try the easy ball for a while, nothing too clever, and his confidence will start to return.

Scotland did well last night to keep the scoreline to only 1-0 bearing in mind the gulf in class between the nations.

No use disceting the reasons as its obvious to a blind man that Argentina had too many better skillful quicker and stronger players.

It starts at the grassroots and 18 months ago we saw a young Scottish ( at the under 20 WC ) get walked all over by the likes of Japan's equivalent.

We are clearly not doing the right things as the kids come through and that needs to change.

Ferguson was on great form.

The guy is a natural, and as I correctly predicted, his shimmies were world class.

Scotland as a whole were just nowhere good enough.

It was a friendly against one of the greats.

We should have gone straight at them, and no cared about the result.

But no.....Burley had other plans......

Play one up front and have McGregor punt it up the park...Cut out the mid-field( where we actually have a chance of doing something).

I'm afraid that the tactics that didnae work on the world stage in the 1950's, still don't work.

Daily Truth News Report

A rich man from Glasgow decided to have a party and invited all his
Rangers buddies. He also invited Sean, his gardener and the only Celtic
fan in the neighbourhood.
He held the party around the pool in the backyard of his mansion.
Everyone was having a good time drinking, dancing, eating prawns,
oysters and bbq and flirting. At the height of the party, the host said, "I have
a 15ft man-eating crocodile in my pool and I'll give a million pounds to
anyone who has the balls to jump in", The words were barely out of his
mouth when there was a loud splash and everyone turned around and saw
Sean in the pool fighting the Croc and kicking it's ass, jabbing the croc
in the eyes with his thumbs, throwing punches, doing all kinds of stuff
like head butts and chokeholds, biting the croc on the tail and flipping
the croc through the air like some kind of Judo instructor.
The water was churning and splashing everywere. Both Sean and the
croc were screaming and raising hell.
Finally Sean strangled the croc and let it float to the top like a
goldfish. Sean then slowly climbed out of the pool.
Everyone just staring at him in disbelief.
Finally the host says, "Well Sean, I reckon I owe you a million
pounds" " Nah; you all right boss, I dont want it," said Sean.
The rich man said " I have to give you something, how about a half
million pounds then".
"No thanks I don't want it" answered Sean.
The host continued " I insist on giving you something, that was
amazing what you done. How about a new Porsche and a Rolex".
Agan Sean said no.
Confused the rich man asked, " There must be something you want?
what can I give you?."
'Just give me the Orange b****** who pushed me into the pool.'

This is what we have to deal with...

We all remember the aftermath of the last sectarian attack on Celtic personnell in August.

Some of the laptoployalists joined in the party reporting that it was 2 grandads that belted lennon who was behaving like an €rse.

All lies off-course. In the days that followed, witnesses spoke to the press and described how 2 of Scotland's Shame approached Lennon from behind and knocked him unconscious by striking him on the head with an object.

They continued their assault as he lay unconscious on the ground...well, that's what witnesses have said.

The two 'no-nonsense' grandads were tracked down - by the police - and they turned out to be two men in their forties who are now awaiting trial in the High Court for sectarian assault.

I hope that the police are as successful in tracking down the Scotland's Shame trio that attacked McGeady.

Our prisons wouldn't be so nearly overcrowded were it not for Scotland's Shame.

And well done to Dr Reid for his swift rebuke of Minty's bewilderingly belated repost for the former's observation that the famine song is 'racist', a view now shared by the police.

Selling scrap metal is one thing, but minty should no his limitations and not try to be a smert €rse in the cut and thrust of debate with an old master.

Silly Minty.

234 Why did Smith mention the linesman's name if it were not to cause.....shall we say a discussion along certain lines?
As I have said before I am an Aberdonian who supports Aberdeen and I am an atheist. No doubt there are some supporters of Rangers who attend church on a regular basis and then there are the true bigots.
You also have the nerve to bring up Tommy Burns funeral.
He was liked by all and not for a moment would I suggest that Walter Smith was not made up to be asked. The difference between you and ne is that your intellect is blinded by being a fan of RFC and nowhere did I say that Smith is all bad but he DID mischievously mention the linesmans potentially suspicious name and he did leave Scotland in a hurry when RFC came calling. Not that that is a bad thing for Scotland.

After this latest assault on a member of Celtic's personnel, the laptoployalists will be preparing a story to put Celtic fans in a bad light.

After Lennon was knocked unconscious by two of scotland's shame in a cowardly and brutal sectarian attack, I remember the daily rearranger running a story that someone had sprayed 'ira' on a pub that andy goram was rumoured to be buying....laughable, but true.

But hey don't let the truth get in the way of a victim story...

As a NEUTRAL I know which of the OF has the most to be ashamed of and it is not Celtic. Who for countless years would not sign a known Catholic and very recently disgraced Scotland in a BIG way in Manchester.
Some of the sectarian, bigoted, rascist and downright evil stuff posted on here by Rangers supporters is beyond belief. Just stop and think for a moment that the greatest team ever to come out of Scotland were the Lisbon Lions of Celtic, not an Irishman in sight and even the manager was a protestant. Take a lesson.

It is untrue that the charges against the two individuals arrested on warrant in connection with the sectarian assault on neil lennon have been dropped.

Just because the victim of a crime cannot identify the assailant doesn't render the assailants free from justice ...were that the case, noone would ever be convicted of murder.

Just more nonsense from one of Scotland's Shame.

im Irish so i was more interested in the Poland game and due to Mr Dunne being in the team we got well beaten.

You have a decent team under Cappello but as you say dont get carried away as that is usually the downfall of the English team. Fabio has sorted out the underachieving egos of the English camp and you now have a chance of getting to a WC semi final at least.

You guys must strive to do what the Germans do at the majour tournies, get most players playing near to their best, stick to a gameplan/tactics, dont lose to cr-a-p teams on an off night and make sure evrybody keeps their discipline.

Do all of that and you guys have a chance as apart from Brasil is their any other nation that is that special at the moment?

Bosco I was disgusted and embarrassed at the events which took place in our home County, Donegal, in the Clanree Hotel during a Celtic function only a few years ago. It was just as embarrassing when it was swept under the carpet with the "£30 software" excuse.

"Go home now idiot?"

I know a certain race that would find that deeply offensive but we'll not get in to that huh?

The Ulster Scots started the KKK? How utterly vague and deeply spectacle but then truth has never been a rabid RC's forte has it now. (rhetorical question BTW)

Still, it's all amusingly ironic coming from a geographically confused bigot who could/should be regarded as Ireland's very own leader of the National Front. I mean the gall of this cretin attacking the Ulster Scots who fought the 'current bun' (further irony) championing a nation who backed, helped and harboured the Nazis is staggering but then we aren't dealing with your usual brand of spastics.

"Outbreaks of mass anti Catholic bigotry?
Outbreaks of mass racial hatred?"

Where to start with a creature as retarded as you. Guaranteed you are one of those MOPES who sing songs of genocide against the protestant faith in your slop houses on the Gallowgate.

And racism?

We all know who is responsible for the worst act of racism in British sports history. You want a clue? They play in the Green and Grey and like to cover up scandals....

That one still sting?

It bloody well should! Your fans that day shamed Scotland beyond unimaginable realms of possibility.

Mr Bill Struth,

Fighting "The Enemy Within" - FROM BEYOND THE GRAV 20/11/2008 22:50:20
To the one, the single, who has created the many different outlets of hate on these threads.I say FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, STOP THIS NOW.

Mistakenly, I thrust hatred upon the people of Glasgow and Scotland and I am paying for my sins.

When Rangers were disgraced in Barcelona Willie Waddell stated:

"“It is to these tikes, hooligans, louts and drunkards that I pinpoint my message – it is because of your gutter-rat behaviour that we [Rangers FC] are being publicly tarred and feathered . . . ”

You have done so again.

You forced the governing bodies to outlaw your songs
You conducted Nazi Solutes in Tel Aviv
You trashed Barcelona again.
You sing disgusting songs about a Scottish Football Legend
You sacked Manchester attacking decent men and woman of the police force.
You sing condemned racist songs
Your existance is to hate.

I am ashamed of what I have created....
393

Mr Bill Struth,

Fighting "The Enemy Within"-FROM BEYOND THE GRAV 20/11/2008 23:01:58
470 - you through accusations of child abuse about in a situation which you have no understanding.

this is a lie perpetrated by filth like yourself to level off what you have become.

To think that I created an institution which incubated scum like you makes me sick to my stomach.

394

Mr Jackson,

Glasgow 20/11/2008 23:05:34
Now we all know fine well that there were no Nazi salutes whatsoever in Tel Aviv. That pesky thing called FACT getting in the way again.

Indeed, we drank with the home support both before and after the game. I doubt the Green and Grey hordes with their tendency to support any form of terrorism would have developed such a good rapport with the mainly jewish home support.

What racist song is this? I've yet to hear of one individual who has been arrested never mind convicted of such behaviour. Case of the authorities trying to scare monger the Rangers support in to giving up a song aimed at mocking pseudo Oirish Celtc fans. Funny thing is, the song is rotten and would have soon went away naturally had the MOPES not started telling us sob stories about their daughters and sons crying about they nasty Rangers fans. Wonder if they have ever explained the joys of singing songs, contributing money in support of the IRA. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Scottish football legend of course, and again another rubbish song that would probably have died away if it hadn't of been for the reaction from the holier than thou hypocrites. Probably the same morons who sang a lot worse about Richard Gough. And in doing so keep the debate going alerting more people to the truth that he did indeed know (not that I care)

But then Wullie Maley insinuating Sam English was in some way at fault would never be ashamed of this hate. Why? 'cos celtc F.C from the moment it was created was done so to segregate their own from integrating. Born of hate, act in hate.

Steak Pie F.C.!
395

Mr Bill Struth,

Mr Bill Struth,

#472 - "Why? 'cos celtc F.C from the moment it was created was done so to segregate their own from integrating. Born of hate, act in hate."

explain to us the greatest ever Scottish sporting achievement.

11 Scots, 1 Scottish Protestant Manager taking on and defeating the cream of Europe. Supported 100% by the sons and daughters of Irish immigrants and swelling their numbers with the many Scots who identified with a club, whose very name stands for integration of the Scots and Irish. A common culture, a shared vision of the future. Led by a man who once shared your belief system and rebelled against it. In the face of the most awful hatred he received for being associated with Celtic, he learned to love the club, its fans and despise the bile which spewed forth from Ibrox.

His hatred did not stop him tenderly caring for the sick and dying in the Ibrox disaster. An act of good human kindness repaid by filth and hatred. His good lady wife, still alive, has to listed to this. No words can describe the disgust that causes.

Your position of dominance has been lost...Scotland has turned its back on you and sees only shame.

When you take supremacy from the supremacist, all that remains is the hate.
397

Mr Jackson,

Glasgow 20/11/2008 23:20:41
#473

Even if that was true (which it isn't), what would it matter?

Your a piece of morally bankrupt scum.

Your twisted diseased brain is sick, no amount of psychiatric care could ever cure you.

Celtc F.C. - embarrassed by nothing ; offended by everything!
398

Mr Bill Struth,

20/11/2008 23:26:45
It is you who is on here defending a position of hatred.

It is proven that you have the morals of a dog.
399

Mr Jackson,

#475

Spare me his triumphs. I'm well aware of them even though it happened 13 years before my birth. I'll be 1st to say it was a great achievement. There's no denying that.

And yes he helped victims of the disaster. What human being wouldn't? I'm deeply grateful for it.

I'm sick of the debate. He knew and did nothing which was simply wrong. To twisting or turning will ever change that. But as far as I'm concerned it's old news. I just wish the Celtc fans would develop some semblance of memory over the Richard Gough chants and stop acting like moral guardians. Hypocrites to a man!
400

Mr Jackson,

Glasgow 20/11/2008 23:31:03

I happened to bump into a bar man from the Squealing Pig pub in Múff and he was saying takings are down since Paddy McCouts move to CP.

He was telling me that Paddy was famous around the town for if people couldn't find him in the pub he would be in the bookies.

His Brother Leroy now keeps the regulars informed of Paddys ups and downs at CP.
