STIRLING 1 Allison 13

PARTICK 0
STIRLING Albion clocked up their second straight league win for the first time in almost a year at Forthbank yesterday. While the result gives manager Allan Moore even more belief that his part-timers can still stay up, it was a disappointing outcome
for Partick Thistle who face Livingston in their Scottish Cup fifth round replay at Firhill on Tuesday night.

The first slight chance fell to Thistle forward Simon Donnelly who had a go with his left foot from 25 yards but his effort went wide of the target. That seemed to pump up the visitors and there was further promise as John Robertson cut in from the right and elected to shoot at goal instead of cutting the ball back. However, it didn't work out as he would have liked as his shot was blocked by Albion defender Stewart Devine.

The 13th minute proved unlucky for Thistle when Stirling took the lead thanks to Brian Allison's first goal for the club, a looping header from skipper Chris Aitken's corner. And there was more Thistle frustration a few minutes later as Paul Keegan's header came off the post.

Goalkeeper Myles Hogarth then came to Albion's rescue, throwing his body at Scott Chaplain's half volley after he had latched on to a Keegan header. But Stirling responded quickly, Aitken's 30-yard free kick flying just inches over.

And while there were further scares at both ends, Albion held their nerve for an invaluable three points.
